Two hours to have served two Sunday roasts and a dessert (wrapped in a kitchen foil, like a left over cooked at home) plus drinks (only to order we had to wait 1/2 hour, which is frankly ridicolous). The quality of the food it doesn't worth the wait. The staff was very rude and arrogant, when I asked why they served me a chocolate truffle paid 7£, I repear PAID 7£, just wrapped in a KITCHEN FOIL, without cream and ice cream, they just said: "we told you". Which kind of person behave like that? I wish these people will have someone serving them rude like they are to understand how they are mean and disgusting persons. To continue this review, this self-styled "restaurant" has no children menù and apparently no take away tupperware or boxes (I might bring in some then they can accomodate this request). My pregnant wife had been approached by a waitress telling her there were " health and safety concerns" because of her carrying a spitting bowl (which is unavoidable for her), but for a dog present in the dining room there weren't, why? P.S.: for a table next to mine, which apparently had customers friends to one of the waitress, the service had been quicker.
Avoid this place and I wish they will close down, because this is what this type of...
Read moreWe've been the last two Sundays in a row. First time, restaurant was cold (obviously, the weather was awful and minus temperatures) but the food was delicious. This time, we booked for the bar area and it was perfect. Staff are just fantastic. Morgan (sorry of I've got that wrong) was great. Remembered us from the weekend before and even reminded my daughter what soft drink she liked and how I hate to be called "Sir" This time, we also spoke to the owner and she's delightful. Everyone is just friendly and treats you wonderfully. It's kind and inviting.
The food. Is lovely. My eldest daughter is autistic (and even came the last time without earphones, I can't remember the last time I saw her without some on!) and a very fussy eater and clears her plate. We've only ever found one other place where she does that. The steak and Ale pie was delicious. My first meal was a Roast pork and that was also perfect.
Everything about this pub is just perfect. Staff, food, ambience. Shame it's so difficult to get to (for us) but is definitely worth the trip. Can't wait to bring my (Southern, sorry) friends up to eat there next time they visit.
Would definitely rate higher if I could. Thank you all for a lovely Sunday. Definitely the highlight of my...
Read moreDecided to try out the Sunday Lunch here as it was our wedding anniversary but completely forgot it was also Fathers Day. That didn't matter because there are plenty of tables and even though it was busy, we were seated straight away. There was an understandable wait before we received our food, but it has a lovely ambience in the dining area and we happily chatted until our food arrived. We had 2 roast beef dinners, which were lovely,( albeit the meat was too rare for our personal tastes) the gravy, mash, roast potatoes and the Yorkshire Pud were stand out stars for us. We both chose a lemon tart for pudding, and my word it was incredibly scrumptious. We chatted with the owner for a bit and she was lovely and courteous, and a pleasure to talk to. A shout out to the young waitress who served us as she was very polite and didn't belittle me for wanting ketchup! Lol We would definitely visit again next time...
