I had heard a lot about this place from my good friend and travelled up from London to have the chew Magna experience. It’s one of the main pubs in the little town and as we walked in the place had a homely and cosy vibe to it. I am individual who appreciates detail and the first thing that caught my eye was the aesthetics of the dinning area was very pleasing the tables were set beautifully and the furniture has beautiful up cycling details that was nostalgic.

We ordered the teriyaki beef, buttermilk wings, pardon peppers and Mac n Cheese. They were all truly exceptional. We ordered stakes and pork tomahawk roast as well as the Hake. Two of the stakes were over done and not to taste however the staff were exceptional as we asked for two new ones. They arrived fairly promptly, and were done much better.

The Tomahawk was the piste de resistance of the meal. The staff were incredibly friendly with great humour they also gave us complementary sticky toffee pudding to make up for the stakes going back.

I’m a great believer of good service I often find great service can make up for mediocre food. This was one of the very few places I’ve visited where the food the venue and the service was remarkableI and well priced for the quality of the experience, highly recommend! Ps I’m not a fan of sticky toffee pudding but I’m...

Room was nice.||It was over the kitchen which kept us awake playing really loud music. The drain outside the kitchen was overflowing throughout our visit making the path unpleasant to use.||We came back from eating across the road and the manageress said the bar was closed and that was before 10pm on a Friday evening. I looked shocked and said ‘ even for residents?’ She said we could order a glass of wine.||We had booked for breakfast. When we came down in the morning all of the tables were set for lunch with wine glasses on. We nearly went back to our room thinking we had made a mistake as there was clearly no tables set for breakfast. We found the manager and she cleared the table of all of the wine glasses and extra cutlery.||Our soap dispenser in our room broke so I reported it at the bar in the morning when we went out for the day. On our return it was still broken. ||We used to love the Bear and Swan but now it does not feel like it is run by...

Front of house staff excellent ,& carry your lousy food coming out of that kitchen ,ive owned a restaurant for 17 yrs in cornwall ,so please when you go back to the kitchen with feedback ,dont let them criticise the customer ,side order of cauliflower cheese served stone cold ,sent back ,red cabbage ,kale & 1 carrot over cooked ,2 slices of beef & a Yorkshire pudding ,3 roast potatoes that were rock hard cheap potatoes ill prepared and .and not a hint of freshly prepared but mass pre packed par peeled rubbish !! Cauliflower cheese was the icing on the cake boiled until death unrecognisable slop topped with grated cheese , all for approx £22 this place has the makings of a destination venue if you paid proper money for your "chef" instead you have a prime piece of real estate in chew magna& care little about the quality of what you serve, you need to get your act together or charge witherspoon prices for what you dish up ,in fact thats an insult to...

A very quite lunchtime Birthday for my wife. The food was very tasty, although the choice was limited, straight off the bat, l we were told, some options were not available and virtually the start of service. The lunch menu seems more cut down, we had booked so they knew we at least was coming. The service was very relaxed and slow. The lamb with noodles was very good, throughly recommend and l had the chocolate Delice and it had a nut crackle slab which had no place on the plate, it was so thick it nearly broke my teeth. My wife had the sticky toffee pudding and it did have Happy Birthday written on it, it did have a posh Quinel of ice-cream, it slipped off the table as it was served and the Chef run off to get another dollop and it was so embarrassing, it was just dumped on the plate, l feel it should have been taken away to at least add a Quinel in the kitchen, not very professional. It's dig friendly to a point you are allowed anywhere with your dog.

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a pint at The Bear & Swan in Chew Magna, and it was a fantastic experience. The pub has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a charming blend of traditional and modern decor. The selection of beers was impressive, and the pint I had was perfectly chilled and delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The cozy seating and the lovely ambiance made it a great place to relax and unwind. The Bear & Swan also offers a wonderful menu, and although I was there just for a drink, the food looked and smelled amazing. I can’t wait to come back and try some of their dishes. Overall, The Bear & Swan is a gem of a pub. Whether you’re looking for a place to enjoy a quiet pint or a lively evening with friends, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

Just had the lovely meal at The Bear and Swan in beautiful Chew Magna 🐻🦢✨ A proper village gem, with cosy gastro pub downstairs and bespoke rooms above. The menu was a real treat: 🥚 Lamb kofta scotch egg? Genius. 🍖 Lamb rump? Packed with flavour. 🍗 Chicken supreme? Came with the tastiest gravy I’ve ever had, it was divine! Loved the use of local ingredients and the warm, relaxed vibe. Big thanks for the invite, I'm already looking forward to the next visit! 🌿🍷 #ad #ChewMagna #GastroPub #FoodieFinds #LocalEats #CountrysideStay #TheBearAndSwan #gastrolubs #foodies #foodiesbristol ##foodcontent #contentcreator #countrysidehotel #boutiquehotel #pubs
