I really enjoyed my lasagne chips garlic bread and salad. It was really really tasty. The flavours in that lasagne was outstanding and it was made from scratch.Very nice staff they are Autistic friendly as I have Autism. Good quality portions. They have a great Menu to choose from. We popped in for our evening meal. The staff were so nice to us , really accommodating. Especially the owner who had just that day had suffered a bereavement. She went out of her way to do me a veg curry because she had ran out of the veg meal I ordered. The waitress/bar attendant Chloe (I think) was really helpful and friendly and couldn't do more for us even though it was her first shift there. We were chatting so much at the end I forgot to tip! Sorry ladies πŸ™πŸΌ We'll definitely come again x

Best Sunday roast in the calne area so far! Other pub chefs in the area should go and see how it should be done. Very busy pub which caused a few problems for the staff seving but food was hot well cooked and well presented. We will be back for another Sunday roast and we will also try a meal on a work day. If you are in the area you should go here for a meal you will not be disappointed.

Have recently visited here about 6 times since the refurbishment, and had great experiences, wonderful food and great service. However our experience tonight was not so great :( . I booked a table for 4 people 2 days before, and had advance warning that a party of 30 had booked in, but if we were told that if we got there just before 7.30, we would be fine. We got there at 7.25. Ordered our drinks, we then asked where our table was, which was pointed out to us- so we took ourselves off there. 10 minutes later, still no menus, so we helped ourselves to some from a service point. 15 minutes later no-one had asked for our order, despite several waiting staff setting up new tables. I went to the bar to see if there was any chance that someone could take our order- 2 mins later a very nice young lady took our order- sadly one of our choices had 'just' sold out as our order went into the kitchen. By 8.45 we were getting a bit hungry! Finally our food arrived at 8.50- 2 carbonara's = they were ok, a pork dish, again okay, luckily the expensive steak was very good. This was very unfortunate, as we have really enjoyed, the new look, new menu. great atmosphere pub. This will not colour our view, but really hope our comments will be taken...

We came across this pub on the A4 and decided to pull in as we were ravenous. The car park was along from the pub and behind a house. The staff were nice and friendly, which was the only positive. There was a strange smell in the pub and it was freezing! I kept my coat on, as it was that cold. The menu was really disappointing for vegans; 3 options and all what you'd expect (cop-out). I opted for the vegan burger which said it came with lentils/chilli on top. It certainly wasn't what was served - 2 of those frozen veggie burgers with breadcrumbs and sweetcorn! And no chilli or lentils. They were soggy. The side salad was so dry, it must've been out of the fridge uncovered for hours. The chips looked and tasted like they'd been fried for an hour. I was not impressed at all. I didn't see the point in complaining as what could they do? Bring out more dry salad? There was nothing else they could offer me and I certainly couldn't stomach another mouthful of another burger! It wasn't cheap either. I wouldn't...

We visited the blackhorse on our way back from Savernake hospital . What can I say there was nobody to serve at the bar .poor girl who seemed to be on he own was rushed off her feet .trying to several food and do the bar several customers left in the end . Ordered our food all meals 12.95 . each very expensive 2 burgers and one sausage and mash. I had to wipe the dripping fat of of the top of my roll due to two disgusting onion rings that smelt like burnt dirty oil.left them and the chips .no side salad just a dish of coleslaw that was also left as looked awful.

No peas or anything with bangers and mash .very poor show.when I complained was told sorry I will tell the chef.no offer of a solution no one to complain to . Wow what a way to run a pub .it was also cold in the pub and I certainly couldn't say people looked impressed . Second time we've given it another chance .won't be going there again neither would I recommend it .what a shame . But Bravo to the barmaid bet...
