The Boot is a lovely pub in a great quiet location. The actual building itself looks great and it has a hunters cabin style decor which makes you feel very at home. The front of house staff are very friendly. The pub has a small restaurany indoors with a large patio area and a garden which is great to sit in of a summers evening.
However, there is very very limited parking available at the location which can mean leaving your car on the road. The biggest floor however is the absolutely absurd snails pace which food seems to be served here. For a party of five it took over two hours for started and main. I know the website advertises fresh food that takes time but for food that needs a quick dunk in the fryer or ten minutes on the grill two hours seems like a ridiculous time to be waiting for food; especially at 3 in the afternoon when the rest of the restaurant was empty. If you can stomach the wait then I do suggest this pub as the food is good and of a reasonable price but make sure you have enough time to sit down and wait for an eternity for it...
Read moreWe have dined here several times before but not for over a year due to the pandemic. After calling on a busy Saturday evening, the new owner managed to squeeze us in on a table for three. The place was fully booked with a warm and friendly welcome as we entered and the service was above and beyond what we had previously experienced, kind and cheery waitresses and excellent draught lager. And finally the food....anyone who has eaten here before will know how good the previous chef was, the new chef obviously having to rise beyond this and let me assure you, they have! We dined on a grilled asparagus starter and then the belly pork for the main course, which was taken to a new level. Absolutely delicious and the compliments to the chef were well deserved. Anyone who hasn't had the privilege of eating here should do so at the earliest opportunity, it will be an experience to relish and we cannot...
Read moreThe new team headed up by Emma and Andy have obviously put their heart and soul (and, I guess, substantial amounts of money) into making the Boot everything one could ask for in a village pub. The locals must be absolutely delighted. The atmosphere couldn’t have been more welcoming and it was great to meet up with a few faces we hadn’t seen for quite a while as they popped in for a pint later in the evening. The Rebellion bitter was absolutely perfect and there was a great choice of sensibly priced wines. From what I could see, the new team have achieved everything the local community wanted. The Boot is now a brilliant local pub with truly excellent food at great value prices.
TIP - All four of us thought our food was absolutely delicous and beautifully presented, but I have to say that I had the haddock and chips which was, quity frankly , the best fish and chips I have...
