Called up before we got here as it was quite late, asked for a table for 4. The man on the phone said yeah come over. We got there and the man said you have to order straight away, as soon as we sat down. The menu is quite large so we were having a glance and asked if we can please have the starter and main course separately. He refused in a very rude manner and said it’s all going to come at once. We then agreed and placed our order, one of the curries we ordered was paneer butter masala and as soon as we said this the man taking the order said it’s going to be sweet to which we said, can we please have it spicy and not sweet. He then said okay and went off, when we received our food we ate the paneer butter masala and it was very sweet. We then asked someone why this is so sweet if we had asked for it to be spicy? To which he said this is suppose to be like this, if you wanted it spicy you should have said. To which my partner replied we did ask for it spicy. The man then gave a reply with a really poorly attitude, he said ‘this is a british place, this is how the food is here’. To say that it is listed as an Indian restaurant, this reply shocked us, wnd then he walked away smirking saying cheers thank you. Really shocking especially coming from a man that looked south asian himself. We then did not eat the curry, paid and then left. Will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone anymore. Food was tasteless and did not live up to the expectations at all. The service was the worse, one of the waiter was very kind however the one who seemed like he was in charge and made a comment about it being a british place was snobby and rude. I also took a photo of the curry to show how there were green chillies added in however it was sweet and tasted bad.

I heard great things about this place and had been on my list to try for a while. I ordered a mix grill, chicken lollipop, cheese naan and a lamb on the bone curry. The mix grill online doesn't state what you get in it. You get a few wings, tikka pieces and some 1 inch pieces of kebabs. The kebabs have whole pieces of coriander seeds which is off putting. The thing that gets me is that this whole grill was soaked in sauce, like you would expect in chilli chicken or chilli paneer. So were the chicken lollipops. NEVER have I had a mix grill or chicken lollipops in sauce, they're not supposed to come with sauce, nor did it specify that it came in sauce. I've tried a lot of mix grill places, mainly in the West Midlands area and none of them come like this! The cheese naan was an absolute joke. The cheese is scattered on top of the naan for some reason rather than being inside the naan. Again, never had a cheese naan with the cheese on top. My toddler even asked me where the cheese is as it tastes plain. Service was average, when I picked up my order, the guy wasn't friendly but not rude, he was just there, told him my order, he got the bags from the back, took my money without saying a word and brought back my change with a feeble 'thanks'. That was it, it was a minimal experience. The lamb curry was decent, nothing to moan about and would happily have it again but would I go back to this place again? Definitely not. Did I call them to complain? No, because they got the order right but I don't expect them to change my order. They really need to look at what they're serving though as it's not what you expect.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Broadway Leicester for the first time earlier this year, motivated by their recognition at the Leicester Curry Awards. Given the considerable buzz on social media, particularly from CoolAsLeicester, I had high expectations for the dining experience. Unfortunately, I found the food to be rather mediocre, falling short of the standards set by other Indian pubs in Leicester. Despite my initial disappointment, I decided to give Broadway Leicester another chance when my preferred takeaway option was closed. This time, I ordered through UberEats, and while the food arrived promptly and at a good temperature, my choice of saag paneer was a letdown. Although the paneer was well-prepared, the lack of saag left me feeling as though the dish had been sourced from a pre-packaged option rather than freshly made. I share this review not out of malice, but to provide honest feedback for potential diners. Given our experiences, I doubt we will return to Broadway Leicester for food, as we believe there are superior options available in the city.

Visited on 28/08/24 - first visit after considering the reviews and recommendation from family.

its won several awards so I went along to see what this was really like. Reservations are recommended - not sure why but I will come to that.

Arrived with my children. we could not be seated in the main restaurant because they were booked (we arrived at 6.30pm ish) - we were escorted to the Bar area, a table cleaned and we were seated

Bar area serves beers / pre-mixed cocktails (not my thing) and a food counter area

Ordered Starters Chicken Wings - they were enjoyed by my children. Tasted well and looked fresh Lamb kebab - arrived on a hot sizzling plate. Spiced and withs some flavour. the meat was hard and rubbery. Chicken Tikka - arrived on a hot sizzling plate. mediocre at best. The chicken was pre-cooked and they re-heated and tossed in onions and flavours - I think this is something most restaurants practice. Sadly the chicken was poor - it was hard (I conveyed this to our server) There was little taste but disappointingly it was hard and was NOT fresh. I know what fresh chicken tastes like. you know when the chicken is not fresh when the marinade from the first cook starts to seep into pre-cooked chicken - so I would not order the chicken again - was a waste of time and like I said it was hard, not fresh and needed more flavour.

this has been echoed by friends who visited and ordered the same chicken.

Mains Butter chicken was enjoyed by children but it had way too much sugar - way too much sugar ! we took the balance home but it ended up in the bin - it was just too sweet -Butter chicken is not meant to be sweet.

Garlic chilli Paneer - was enjoyed and does come recommended. Naan - were amazing, freshly cooked and were highly rated by my children.

Overall The chicken tikka is not fresh - I dont care what anyone says. and I would not order this the Lamb Kebab was hard and I cant see this being fresh either. I think was cooked and warned up - and like I said it was not soft - was hard and rubbery Butter Chicken - way too sweet

Service from Yash was great.

I fail to see how such food could be worthy of awards. I wont...

We came here yesterday for a mixed grill based on good reviews. We were disappointed with a number of things which resulted in this review. The portion size was terrible, a large (mix grill) resembled a medium to us, and with the price of £17 we expected it to be a fair portion. It just wasn’t . However, we felt the flavouring was good and we decided we would stay and order mains. We were seeing family we hadn’t seen for years, and as you would expect we got carried away with talking, and we asked them to give us a few minutes longer to confirm we had chosen what we wished. At this point, we were informed that they needed the table back by 4:30pm so we had to order now. The time was 3:45pm. We explained that the food needed to be cooked, come out and eaten- 45minutes was not enough time and we didn’t want to be rushed. In fact, it seemed they were going to make the food but we would need to eat and be out by that point- and there was no secret on their part about that. At this point, we settled the bill and left. We did speak to a member of staff and explained they never told us they needed us gone by a certain time until sorting mains, otherwise we would have gone somewhere else. I also told the member of staff, this hospitality was really quite terrible as it gave the impression they just wanted our money as opposed to a decent dining experience and I fed that back. She did say the manager called my uncle (who made the booking) back to explain that the table would be needed at 4:30pm, but my uncle said no one called him or told him this- otherwise we wouldn’t have gone there. Whilst the flavours of what we did try was good, the overall experience of portion size, being indirectly kicked out or forced to order quick and the being lied to about a conversation resulted in this review. We ended up at the Melton Bar off Golden Mile Road, which provided a much better service, value for money and just as flavoursome food. I wish I took a photo of the mixed grill so I could have shown the reason for the review...
