The Brook Bar & Bistro — Restaurant in England

This relates only to the Brook Bar and Bistro and our Travelzoo voucher. We first went to the Restaurant using a Travelzoo voucher on 7 March 16 and had a great meal. We selected courses from the Main Menu as advertised by Travelzoo and appearing on the Bath Mill Lodge Retreat website. We were encouraged to buy another Travelzoo voucher but even had one not been available we decided to return to the Restaurant and pay full price because of the quality. We returned last night (Saturday 7 May) to find the Restaurant half full (not a good sign) and the Menu left on the tables much changed from our previous visit (printed on sheets of A4 paper - not very professional). While I had informed the Restaurant when booking and again on arrival that we were Travelzoo customers, you may imagine our annoyance and displeasure that once seated we were given a 'Travelzoo' menu which was different from the main menu with only the cheaper selections available. I booked for 4 of us as the Easter menu looked good on line. We arrived and were told no lamb as diners had pre booked! I hadn't been asked to pre book to secure certain foods, we had picked venue based on lamb being served for Easter, we ordered drinks, there was no pinot grigio wine nor any alcohol free wine or fizz. We ordered sides of stuffing and cauliflower cheese alongside our choice of main, it took so long to arrive, most of our dinner had been eaten, in fact we had to ask how much longer they would be! Both chicken roasts were overcooked, chicken rubbery and yorkshire burnt. We then waited for someone to take our dessert order and had to ask to which she replied, I didn't realise you wanted dessert! No-one asked if everything was ok? Nice place, nice food but a serious lack of options for vegetarians or vegans. This does need to be amended for the growing number of veggies like myself for nearly 15 years now. There was no offer of something else when I asked what else they could do. It was just a flat out 'no sorry we don't do or have' which was then followed with the painful silence of oh.....okay....um. We all been there before haven't we ;) Another option to cater for their lack of variety would have been appreciated- especially now fast food places offer more than one option! Oh and half of the dishes were unavailable or they had run out.... it was prebooked for a Sunday family birthday meal....and it was only 3pm.
