We stayed at the Premier Inn next door & they do a meal deal offer for £25, which consists of an all you can eat continental / full English breakfast buffet. There is an excellent choice to choose from. There’s also an excellent choice to choose from on the evening menu, but if you have the meal deal there may be some additional charges involved. Unfortunately we experienced a very long delay for our desserts on the first evening (they must have been forgotten about) & on the second evening a side order was placed that was never brought up to the table. When enquired for a second time the side order still didn’t arrive, so once the meal was finished we simply asked for that side order to be cancelled, which was done with minimal fuss. The restaurant is comfortable. I’m not too sure why they seemed to have had a radio station playing during the evenings though. The only other annoying issue is that they have table reservations in the bar area. On a couple of occasions we found it difficult to find a table to sit at for some drinks. I totally understand why you would have table reservations in the restaurant but seems very unnecessary for this to be going on in the bar. Staff are very friendly & polite.

This place used to be really good a few years ago. Bit having recently giving it 2 seperate visits months apart it has completely gone down hill. 1st visit they had most of the menu avaliable but waiting times for the food was over a hour from ordering. The staff did give a free drink but still didn't eat till late. Then 2 visit nearly the whole menu was unavailable. So much food out of stock I'm amazed they were able to open if I'm honest. Essentially they only had "freezer food" avaliable such as scampi and one type of burger. The chips were soggy and we were both thoroughly unimpressed by it all. Service was quicker on 2nd visit as there was barely anyone in the pub eating. If you don't have food avaliable just tell people before seating them don't tempt people in for a drink then tell them that most on menu is unavailable. I've attached a photo to this post showing the things out of stock this was on the 2/10/22

Don’t order the baked potato with chilli. As you can see from the photo, it was tiny. Not only tiny but the lack of chilli was noticeable. I only had one bean and was lucky to find one extremely small beef splinter. I brought this up with staff and they told me that’s it comes pre-packed so they couldn’t actually get me any more chilli to even try and cover my potato. I was offered to change my order but as I’d waited so long for that disappointing offering, I chose to decline. They did let us have our coke foc. We were then asked if we would like the sweet menu but decided that a coffee and cake in Niles bakery next door would be a safer option. Needless to say, I wouldn’t recommend this place for food and will not be eating here again. The staff members were pleasant enough and I’m sure if you just fancied a drink it’d be ok.

Had to delete an old good review to write this sadly. We went to the Carclaze for breakfast today and we really really wish we hadn't. We walked in and waited for our table. Was asked to pre-pay which was fine (we thought) but there was no mention that half the food was missing!!! The manager served us and asked if we had a loyalty card which my partner produced on her phone. He seemed irritated and said he didn't have the equipment to scan it from a phone to which the young female bartender kindly told him how to do it manually. He then moaned that he was too busy to type the number in so we just told him not to worry about it as he seemed extremely stressed out! So we pay and go to find a table only to find they were all dirty so we began to clear one ourselves, the young bartender from before came over, smiled, apologised and took over for us, honestly she should be running the place as she was very kind and not at all fazed by the absolute chaos going on around her. I then went to get the drinks and found the milk and apple juice had run out which is fine, things run out so I went to the bar and informed the manager who once again sighed, looked annoyed that I'd dare bother him, pointed out they were extremely busy and he'd sort it when he could!!! To be fair he did actually then sort this out pretty quickly. We then went to get food and OMG there was nothing there hardly!!! I sorted my Dad and his friend out with there half a breakfast which was missing several items that weren't available (the chef told me not to bother waiting for them as they wouldn't be coming out anytime soon!!!) then I went back for mine. My partner got hers but took the last egg so I jumped out of the queue and joined the back hoping they'd restock. At this time another customer who was ahead of me in the queue complained about the lack of food and pointed out that getting us to prepay felt like a trap as we couldn't just walk out when we realised there was so much missing. The manager seemed annoyed with this customer, bordering on aggressive. I wanted to make my own complaint to him at this point but felt too intimidated to do it after the way he spoke to the other gentleman. I got to the front of the queue again and they had put out the eggs but the other items were still missing. There was a young man stood at the end of the table patiently waiting for scrambled eggs to come out (he waited a long time, I hope he got them in the end) and he told me the manager had let in a group of 14 people who hadn't booked which was what had caused all the hassle. Anytime we have tried to go without booking first we have been turned away (and rightly so) so it seems the manager bought all this stress on himself by allowing them in!!! So I gave up and took what I could and went and ate my half a breakfast. At this point I hear a commotion at the bar and see the gentleman from earlier asking for his money back as they hadn't got what they paid for. Once again this seemed to get the mangers back up and he started to raise his voice to the gentleman and his family (which included children), the man became a little frustrated with the way the manager was speaking to him and at this point the manager rather than trying to resolve the customers legitimate complaint told him to leave the building and threatened to call the police!!!!! If this is the way he talks to customers I'd absolutely hate to think how he talks to the staff, maybe you need to talk to some of them quietly as this guy has a screw loose!!! Again I wanted to complain but my girlfriend and Dad were afraid it would cause a scene because of how this manager was reacting...

Went here this afternoon for a 'carvery' as the other place we originally planned to go to was so busy we couldn't even get into the car park. I've had a few friends over the years mention this place so thought we would give it ago. It took a good few minutes for any of the staff to even acknowledge us, we ordered one beer, one coke and two j2o's as well as 4 'carveries' which came to a total of £51 which is quite high in comparison to other establishments in the local area. We struggled to find a table as most of them still had glasses and plates from previous customers which still hadn't been cleared by the time we left. We got told it would be a 20 minute wait for our food but ended up being 35 mins. I know a carvery as you pick your meat and get given a portion of that but then free will to pick whatever else you want which works out well for us with two fussy kids but this 'carvery' was pre-plated. Portion sizes were good however it was just an awful roast dinner. There was an option between beef, turkey and gammon. Turkey can be a risky one as not many people can cook it without drying it out and gammon can be quite salty so decided to opt for the beef. Unfortunately it was overcooked, dry and chewy, such parts actually crunchy too! Yorkshire pudding was cold and mushy, roast potatoes weren't terrible but nothing special, stuffing was stodgy and gammy in the mouth, carrots were unpeeled and quite hard as well as the peas, pig in blanket was tiny and salty with the smallest wisp of bacon attached, swede mash and parsnips were good though! They only put the gravy on the beef, non existent on the rest of the roast but no biggy as the gravy was flavourless and watery anyway. It was just a HUGE disappointment considering how expensive it was and waiting 35 minutes for it. None of us 4 enjoyed it. One of the previous reviews commented on how nice the cauliflower cheese was which is my favourite part of a roast but we didn't actually get any. I'm not a fussy eater at all and I never complain about places usually but this time I thought I would as I wouldnt want anyone else to waste their time and money. It would be ok if it was a decent roast but I swear it's no better than a frozen roast dinner micro meal. I was excited to eat out and not have to cook today but by the time we left I wish we had just stayed home and had a roast. I don't know if it is always like that or whether we just caught it on a bad day but either way we won't be...

The outside is undergoing a lot of work at the moment however inside is reasonable and there is a fair range of food on the menu Sunday morning breakfast is very popular and very busy so it's best to book It's popular with families with younger children If it is busy there can be a wait which isn't always convinient so if you are on a timetable it's best to book Staff are pleasant there are toilets but they are upstairs ,there may be others but these are the only ones I've ever seen On a nice evening it's quite pleasant to sit outside , when the work has finished .Visited twice recently The work has finished The dinning areas have been redecorated and new flooring laid Visited again the other day after not going for a while following a couple of disappointing visits The staff seem to have changed and there are more of them We had booked luckily as it was busy Meals were ok But as it was busy ( 5/15) we did have a wait Visited again last night All staff very friendly Although there weren't many of them and it was very busy We did have a while to wait but the food was hot well presented for what we had and arrived so we could all eat together Staff checked we had everything we needed but didn't over fuss Took our plates away promptly so we weren't sitting looking at them for ages and bought menus back for dessert which was served in good time A much better experience this time than the past one Glad we took the chance and went We visited again recently to check out rumours heard Unfortunately they were true it has im sorry to say gone down hill again This seems to be a recurring problem So.eone different takes charge and it picks up but after a few weeks goes back downhill again Wrong food being delivered to table Food not hot decreased portions Unfortunately with the cost of living as it is and the price of eating out going up As it is at the moment it will be a while before and...
