I recently took 3 friends for lunch to this wonderful pub and we all have a fabulous time.
A table was reserved for us in a very quiet corner although the pub itself had a very peaceful vibe to it throughout which was very welcome as it allowed for us all to be heard as we conversed and really feel relaxed.
Service was exceptional as the young lady who welcomed us and helped us with our order questions was attentive and charming with a beautiful smile and instantly friendly demeanour. Nothing was ever too much trouble, even with my fussy food habits, and on several interactions we all laughed at my terrible jokes, it really was quite delightful.
The food portions were very good with our mains being excellent value and I personally cannot remember the last time I had a burger that was so filling and tasty. All 4 of us ate everything on our plates and enjoyed every mouthful.
As I was on medication that stopped me from having more fun drinks I asked for a large jug of water which in some places gets you a frown, but here there was total understanding and it was brought out in pitcher that very probably could rehydrate a desert. It was massive and much appreciated, thank you so much for that. I even got a nice lemon slice, so that was a bonus. My fellow diners each had a mixture of soft drinks and a beer which they were very happy with.
Desert was very impressive with my 2 chocolate choices (yes 2, I am greedy, lol) being so yummy that I wish I had ordered 3. The apple crumble and custard was hoovered up by my friends who were over the moon with the portion size.
All in all we spent about 3 hours in this gorgeous pub, we ate great food and had a brilliant time. I myself am new to Prestwood and this was a fantastic experience, my 3 friends are locals however none of them had been in before so for them it was a great experience too, we all fully intend to return as everything was so enjoyable and fun. As we left it had become a bit busier but even then the atmosphere was warm and friendly, it seems this pub has a very nice crowd of regulars.
All in all the four of us dined and drank for just over £100 and it was money very well spent. I highly recommend The Chequers Tree for a lunchtime visit. It oozes charm and has a very welcoming vibe, it's very good value for money and if you make the young lady who works there laugh enough she has been known to bring people a few extra chocolate mints as a reward.
That's an epic win...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI left this pub feeling worse than when I walked in āand thatās saying something. I donāt know how they do it, but theyāve perfected the art of making you feel like you donāt belong. When itās quiet, they rush you as if they canāt wait for you to leave. When itās busy, they look you up and down like youāve just wandered into the wrong party. Either way, youāre made to feel like a problem, not a guest.
The food? Half the menu missing, the rest completely tasteless. But the bigger disappointment is the staff. Theyāre incredibly nice⦠right up until your card goes through. After that, youāre no longer worth a smile, let alone a second of their time.
Hospitality here seems to expire the moment the bill is paid ā maybe they should print that on the menu so no...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLove this place! It's full of character and so so welcoming. We popped in today for an early lunch, and the food was, as usual, just perfect; tasty, well cooked and served in very generous portions. I thoroughly recommend the chilli, and the roast dinners on a Sunday are the best pub roasts we have ever had. Very varied and extensive menu, I have never been told that my choice has sold out. The staff and Landlady are very friendly and welcoming. They are always great with my daughter (14) who has Arfid, by accomodating her needs when it comes to food. For fab food, drinks, service and atmosphere, I highly recommend The Chequers Tree...
