It a pub.

Something the pictures quite cleverly disguise but it’s a pub. That’s OK, in this present climate businesses have to adapt. So once we found out it was a pub and where seated things kind of went down hill from there.

Tea and sweets please - sorry you have to give us 24 hours notice. We’d booked the table 24 hours in advance but no body told us this over the phone .

So we ordered from the standard pub menu which was presented on a lovely Tea Room style menu.

Food was of a good standard ( what they had in stock) and the waitress was professional.

At the end we asked to see the deserts menu but we were told all that was left was a scone a some drizzle cake. Shame were not warned about this when we booked the day before.

It’s not as if they were busy - apart from us only one other table with some elderly ladies where enjoying their Gin. One of them had tattooed on her back :...

The afternoon tea I had here did not look like the photos. They must have run out of bread. There were five adults and we had 12 finger sandwiches between us. So that's 6 individual slices of bread.. Crusts off, made into three sandwiches then cut into 4 strips. I don't expect a mountain of sandwiches but this was pretty poor. Fillings were not good. Cakes were OK but not very elegant or flavoursome. For example a plain sponge (dry) with broken chocolate buttons on top. The scones were warm but there was one per person and they weren't large they were the size of the little value supermarket scones. Not clotted cream either which is what is say was a minimum expectation. Heaps of cheap jam though. The ultra sweet, runny 70p a jar stuff. The staff weren't attentive, the atmosphere was flat. It's quite a good place to go if you want something to eat but also want it cheap, cosy and fast. It's a small but quite homely self-decorated place with homely atmosphere (I know I shouldn't use the same word twice in one sentence but there we go). It's a small business, the upside if which would be being flexible on requests compared to a big establishment (e.g. when we came in, they were accidentally out of bacon but very generously agreed to substitute the lack of it with extra sausages and fries, which left us full to the brim :)).
