We visited the Cow Shed after a good walk on Fraisthorpe Beach. There was a small queue so i grabbed a table while my Mrs sorted the food. I had to clear the table and wipe it down , good job i carry wipes. The food was ordered and we got an electronic beeper to inform us when our order was busy, meanwhile the table next to us got cleared of the trays people left behind after eating their food. The table needed a wipe down after ,but was left with crumbs on it the whole time we were there. the buzzer went off and my Mrs went to get the food, i could see her talking to the lady at the counter, and could see something was wrong. Anyway, my Mrs returned with a sandwich , not a baggette that i asked for. Apparently, the wrong item was put on to the order, and the lady was arguing that we got what was on the order. There wasn't enough chicken mayo to do another baggette. It wouldn't have been too bad, but ther bread was dry. My wife got a Tuna and Cheese toastie that was cold inside , and the cheese had hardly melted. The chips were decent, thats why i gave 2 stars. Such a shame as it's a really in a nice place to be. The toilets were clean, and the general place looked clean and tidy. More down to the staff not being that interested in doing their job. I wouldn't go back,

Today we called in prior to a walk along the sands to Filey - Americano and sausage roll. On our return we repeated the coffee and a slice of cake. There's always a warm greeting. Extremely clean and warm.

Lovely cafe near the beach. We booked a long promised Sunday morning breakfast here after only having visited for coffees previously. The cafe was busy by 10.30am (an hour after opening). The building is a spacious modern conversion and is warm and comfortable even with gale force winds and rain outside. Staff are very efficient and friendly..order taken promptly and drinks arrived quickly followed shortly after by our full English breakfast and a Full veggie breakfast. Food was lovely, and promoted as using local produce where possible. My only dissapointment was the 2 veggie sausages were potato based and ( although very tasty) I ended up leaving the 2 potato hashbrowns as was quite alot of potato food on the plate (i would have liked soya based sausages as a contrast but just my preference). My partner loved his full English 'delicious'!! We also took 2 homemade cakes from the many choices as take out for later that evening and they were both gorgeous. The only let down here is the outdoor 'rustic' toilets which are free to use by everyone using the beach and the cafe and aren't the nicest facilities....but it doesn't put people off eating here....and we will definitely return.

Unfortunately an extremely bad review for this cafe. Arrived with family and two dogs for a coffee and a cake as a treat for my nana’s birthday tomorrow. Feeling ashamed for recommending this place for somewhere to have a nice afternoon coffee and cake with my elderly grandparents.

Initially waited to be seated at door took around ten minutes for the waitress to come back and ask where we wanted to be seated just asked if we had booked. which is fair enough if tables were full however I could count 4 outdoor tables which were empty. Took another 20 minutes for waitress to come back and take our order. Which this waitress was very polite! I cannot fault her. After waiting for our coffee and cakes only 3 of 5 had turned up. My brother took his chocolate cake and nana and grandad where waiting for there’s. The waitress who delivered the cake said the others would be one minute they were just sorting them out.

We waited 15 minutes and asked where they were the nice lady I mentioned before said I will check up on them. We waited another 20 minutes after saying they wouldn’t be too long and we went back over to say they had not come. The lady was disgusted we hadn’t got them and so were we! At this point we had all finished our drinks and our cakes while my nana and grandad sat and watched us. We asked for a refund and suggested they refund the coffees as well? The lady who originally seated us explained that she did not know and gave the impression it wasn’t her problem and that the cake would take 20 minutes to make? We explained we were never told this and that we could’ve been given the option to change cake or not get them if we would’ve been told , again she said “I didn’t know’ giving the impression it wasn’t her problem. After saying we wanted the refund she said ‘do you want to come inside for the refund of the CAKES’ evidently shouting across the seating area where other people could all hear that we weren’t getting anymore than a refund for the cakes we never received. We complained in a quiet manner as I do not stand for harassment in workplaces but now I am understanding people who do make more of a statement as we were very rudely shoved off. My nana and grandad will never return there.

We come on holiday for my nana and grandad to get a nice break in there elderly years and I worry very few are remaining. I am writing this review for people to read that are wanting to go to this cafe and suggest giving this one a swift miss. Staff need training especially educating in politeness to customers who where giving politeness. The WORST cafe...

Manager that blamed us for not checking the order was correct when read back to us ( we did check it and it was right ) . We actually paid the right amount for what we wanted but … some where between them taking our money and printing the till receipt it missed of a meal . We proved it was their mistake as we added up each individual item we ordered and had actually paid the exact amount for everything we wanted . They served a BLT to us saying it was a club sandwich . My mum ordered a BLT and my wife the club sandwich , which meant my wife started eating what she was told was a club sandwich to then realise it was my mums BLT . This was our fault as the manager said we should of checked if it had chicken in and also the waiter never said club sandwich she said BLT . My mum and my wife both heard what she said and it certainly wasn’t BLT . They also served my son the adult mash and sausages which had mustard In it ( this was supposed to be my dads but we didn’t realise ) so we said the kids one has mustard in it . They took it back but when realised it was my dads , that was our mistake as we should of known the kids mash has two sausages and the adults has three … no where on the menu does it tell you how many sausages are in the meals …. Honestly felt like no matter what the mistakes they made that they would find a reason it was our fault … was told they binned the sausage and mash when we returned it so we would have to pay again for that …. We didn’t pay anything else in the end and got it all sorted and correct eventually . But not before we was made to feel we had made that many mistakes in recieving food and placing orders that it’s all our fault … terrible way to deal with what was essentially their mistakes … it seems no matter what your legitimate complaints are in the cowshed , you will be to blame somehow . Ruined our day , and although I was polite to them during all of this and they talked politely but patronisingly to us it did ruin our meal...

Went to this place yesterday for lunch after looking online for somewhere close to us to eat, nice views of the beach. The food was excellent however the service given by the waitress staff was in our opinion was terrible, there were only ourselves and another small group waiting to be seated and none of us was eve acknowledged by any of the many staff passing us did not even say 'we will be with you shortly' just left us all stood there it was like we were invisible and they were not extremely busy as there were tables free. When we did finally get a table the lady cleaned it whilst we were stood over the table handed us a menu each and explained the procedure for ordering which was table service and then she left us to ponder the small menu and then we waited, waited & waited for someone to come and actually take our order. When we finally placed our order we seemed to be again waiting for ages for anything to arrive but when the food finally came the different waitress said 'oh ill chase up your drinks' as apparently we should of had them first (my wife had already seen our drinks sitting on the counter a good while before our food came) bearing in mind we could not eat our food as we still had not got cutlery either. Then after a few more minutes our drinks came with the cutlery and the waitress then asked 'could i ask you to pay now' - rude - however I think the first waitress should of done this whilst taking our order as we noticed this was the practice with other customers.

They are short staffed as I saw the notices at the door however they were not too busy when we went and I don't accept this an excuse.

I have to say though the food was excellent it is just a shame the service let it down if it was not for the quality of the food it would of been 1 star.

Not a enjoyable experience from a couple of people who have confidence and...
