We decided to eat out at short notice. We looked at the menus of several pubs and decided to choose the crown. We arrived after looking a the menu we discovered it was different to the website. We were told it had changed recently, so we did say i suggest the website is updated. When it came to drinks they didn't have prosecco. Never known a pub not have prosecco. We asked for the following and they don't stock any of them. They didn't ginger beer, coke zero, bitter lemon and neither ginger ale. Very limited on drinks. We were offered diet coke which we don't like. We did ask what flavoured mixers they had only to be told, NONE.....

We ordered food. 1 gammon steak, when it came it was extremely salty and 1 rather expensive rump steak, cooked rare which was medium to well when it arrived. However when I complained a rare rump was placed in front of me which was much appreciated, but I couldn't eat it as it was full of sinue and is now in the cat bowl at home.

Oh I did forget to say that when I asked for a bottle of still spring water that could not be supplied either I was offered some kind of filtered tap water which tasted worse than my unfiltered tap water at home. If you take my advice don't complain about anything because if you saw the state the chef was in then it would put you off eating out for life.

This may seem over the top but believe you me each point is accurate. I think it's safe to say we don't recommend the pub and definitely...

My brother and I booked a table for lunch today, on arrival I noted that the waitresses all had plastic facemasks on - well-done team, although not every member of staff was wearing a face covering.

We were shown to our table, which was in an old alcove, very quaint (mind your head there). We ordered drinks (3 x Coke Zeros) but we were brought 3 x Diet Cokes, which is not the same as Zero, so I sent mine back as the additives in Diet Coke plays hell with my blood sugars.

The carvery meal was most delightful, the carrots were so soft they melted away in my mouth, the peas were cooked to my ideal specification, the beef was ever so tasty, lean and mouthwateringly moist as was the turkey. The roast potatoes were HUGE four was more than enough for me, and that Yorkshire which looked like a castle turret was so fluffy and tasty.

The staff were very attentive, one came over to see how the meal was before I had even put a fork to a pea.

I asked to see the dessert menu after polishing off the main meal, a waitress returned and told me the items available, I opted for good old fashioned apple crumble (crumble crumble) - WHO PUTS SULTANAS IN APPLE CRUMBLE?? - I did not eat it, although I did taste the crumble which was deliciously buttery and I could happily have had a bowl full of that alone.

Overall a good dining experience - thank...

Outstanding Food for very reasonable price considering the cost of everything on the up at the moment!

The Crispy Chilli Beef starter was amazing. I'd arguably say better than many Chilli Beefs you get in a Chinese Takeaway.

A Lasagne is a Lasagne so they say.... Get yourself down the Crown and they'll prove you wrong. Homemade and served Piping hot with chips so crunchy and hot you have to wait a few minutes to tuck in.... Worth it!

The cheesecake of the Day Chocolate and Caramel was not an ordinary cheesecake.... I will say no more on this as you've got to try it!

I could barely walk out of the pub for two reasons. One because the staff, the atmosphere and the settings in the pub were terrific. And two because I ate so much because it was bloody lovely!

Will 100% be coming here again and I've been told they do a banging carvery...

Staying local for our holiday in Somerset. We had been out for the day and thought we'd stay out for dinner and try The Crown and were very happy we did. Dogs were welcome which was a bonus as we have two. Service was great and the food was even better, proper pub food we loved it and our kids did too clean plates all round 😋 desserts were amazing also if you can manage it after the hearty mains. Overall I would highly recommend it.
