Lovely countryside pub with a good selection of drinks and good service, however food was not up to expectation for the price.

Drinks were good. However, tomato juice was very watery. Also although its minor doom bar was served in Guinness and John smith glasses.

Food was not up to expectation for the price although some dishes were well presented and tasted nice many things on the menu were not up to standard. The fish and chips and burgers were nice. However the 10oz steak was far from worth costing 19.95 it was also cooked medium for a rare order. The sandwiches which were toasted were very dry. Furthermore, portion sizes for example the chips accompanying the meal were very small and the starters and deserts were very small for the cost of around 7.50.

Overall, a nice countryside pub with good service and lovely staff but the food was not worth the cost...

We stopped by to have lunch on a weekday. It was our first time here. Only one other table had guests and there was no music. My lamb shank was delicious although I didn’t like the mash that went with it. My husband had a burger. We were told that they were out of beef and had venison only, which sounded like a pleasant surprise. He was very hungry and enjoyed it to start with, but towards the end noticed a strange texture and realised it was raw meat. The reaction of the waitress made the experience worse as she kept poking the meat with a fork and swearing. The chef came out of the kitchen to talk to us as we were paying and apologised saying that some people like raw venison so it is not unusual. It would have been nice if we were given a choice before the meat was cooked. Sadly, my husband was ill afterwards and throughout the night, so not sure we...

I have reduced my star ratings due to the very weird reply from the "owner" i suggest if you cannot take positive criticism, you get out of the game! We came in for lunch with friends on a Friday. Not been here before. Place was empty, cold and zero atmosphere. We asked if we could bring the dog in and if not we would be happy to sit in the "garden" (not really a garden. Bleak and bare) The Chef piped up saying dogs were not really welcome, as owners allow them to chew the chair legs and not do anything to stop them! Eh? We assured him our dog was not going to do that! Nice welcome we thought! The menu was in our opinion, over priced so we ordered the "specials board" soup. It was as thick as wallpaper paste but quite tasty to be fair. We left as soon as we could. Shame as the location is quite pleasant. We...

We visited here as it was close to Michael Woods burial ground . Not a great experience. The place was empty and no one at the bar . We were given menus . But everything was very expensive. We had chip cauliflower cheese and the fish pie . Well the fish pie was bad the fish was obviously frozen pieces with some frozen vegetables mixed in with mash plocked on top and top with cheese . The fish had bones in too which made it very unpleasant. It was served with peas and rocket salad very odd . Not worth the money very over priced . The cauliflower cheese was OK but well frozen being used again and smothered in cheese. Sorry won't be coming again

Fantastic pub and great service and food too. Sat out the front under cover with the dog and for to watch the bikes and cars all go past. Sunday roast was fantastic, the lamb shoulder was a good as you'd hoped it'd be and plenty of gravy I didn't even have to ask for extra with a massive gravy boat on top of a decent serving on the plate (I'm northern and like my gravy). Only way it would've been better is with some bread and butter to mop it up but I was stuffed anyway.
