Booked a table for five of us for the Christmas set menu on a Tuesday evening. We preordered in advance. Unfortunately, there was no mention when booking that Tuesday night was quiz night. We arrived before there was any sign of a quiz and the five of us commenced our Christmas catch up. The pub filled up and became full and the quiz commenced. We were positioned at the back of the pub right next to the wall mounted speaker. The quiz master began. The microphone was so loud we could not hear ourselves across the table. We asked if the volume could be turned down and were told no. The starters arrived which were good portion sizes. After each round of the quiz there was a ten minute interval where we quickly had to chat and share our news before we couldn't hear each other. Four out of the five mains arrived and our friend was told she hadn't ordered a main, which she had and was on the preordered list. She was offered a free drink while the chef cooked a turkey dinner. When it arrived it was pitiful with only scraps of Turkey among some veg. The landlord did come over and apologise and offered her meal at half price. The puddings arrived which were small in size compared to the other two courses. We were so disappointed with our experience as we looking forward to an evening of good food and lots of chat but due to the quiz we sat in silence for most of the evening and left with our ears ringing from the loudness of the speaker. I was also looking for a new venue to visit with another group of friends, but unfortunately, it...

I have been to this pub multiple times, so I'm not giving a review as someone who has "not been in the pub".
We, as consumers, can't stop you from hosting a particular political figure for a particular political event. We can, however, choose to abstain from funding your establishment. If you invoke your right to invite a society in the name of free speech, we invoke our right to eat and drink elsewhere in the name of free conscience.
To accuse us of being "violent and intimidating" is hypocritical, considering the MP you hosted publicly defended a fellow MP in his party who physically assaulted his ex-girlfriend. An assault conviction is significantly more "violent and intimidating" than a lawful protest, which police lawfully observed, and which led to no arrests whatsoever. Furthermore, it is unlikely that very many "children and elderly people" were being kept awake from sleeping by the time we finished protesting at around 7:30 in the evening.
Insisting that this "really doesn't reflect the pub" is an exercise in futility; you made a deliberate decision to host Richard Tice, and so we will make a deliberate decision to boycott your pub.
As it happens, I personally found your food delicious, your beer selection fantastic, and the waiting service impeccable. Nevertheless, I still have principles, and I stick to them.
Yours faithfully, A...
Read moreWe had such a lovely time at this little gem of a pub we located through Brit Stop. Turns out we were there the night they introduced Indian food night but it was no less a success than good pub food. (check out Mike’s mole, it’s amazing!)The place was bustling and the tables were reserved or full which left us to take up a place near a lovely little wood stove in the side room. As luck would have it and much to our delight, we found ourselves in the company of none other than Mike, the regular chef, who’d been banished from his kitchen by ‘the curry ladies’. He graciously shared his ‘quiet corner’ with us where we ate, drank and enjoyed wonderful company and conversation. Dan, Mike, Laurean and the ‘curry ladies’ were the most gracious hosts and made us feel welcome and at home. We could have easily taken up residence in their parking lot, stayed til the weather improved, we could eat our way through the menu and just generally enjoyed some of the nicest people we’ve met on our travels- and that’s saying something! Cheers to the good people of The...
