This was my first visit, and though it’s a bit off the beaten path with back roads and lots of winding turns, it leads you to a cozy pub. Parking is located at the back, so just be mindful to choose the correct lane for entry and exit—it’s not clearly signposted, though to be fair, I arrived after dark. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff. The pub was quite busy, and we found a table tucked away near the bar. The spot was a bit chilly, as it was close to the main entrance, and the door sometimes stuck on the thick rug, so people didn’t always close it behind them. Our waiter was very friendly—perhaps a touch overly enthusiastic, but still pleasant. The food was fantastic. I started with the goat cheese with honey and roasted pumpkin seeds, while my wife ordered the garlic bread. Both were delicious. For our main courses, we had the meat pie with Yorkshire blue cheese and a gourmet burger, both of which were excellent. We were too full for dessert as the portions were generous. Overall, we really enjoyed the food, and the staff made us feel very welcome. I would have loved to see a roaring fire or maybe a few more rustic touches, and the waiter did state the fire would be set up soon once it had been cleaned, but it was still a lovely experience. I’d gladly come back and recommend it to others.

The Drovers have worked hard to create a lovely outdoor space that is comfortable and ambient. The staff are plentiful, friendly and working hard to provide excellent service and delicious food. We visited for lunch in September 2024. Great to finally find a pub serving food on a Monday! Delicious food too. My daughter had the fish butty. Beautiful fish in a bun. Tartar sauce on the side. I had the chicken gyro. Fresh, tasty and plentiful chicken. Both dishes were served with a gorgeous, home made coleslaw. We arrived late for food service but were made to feel very welcome and even offered dessert. Our dogs were given a bowl of water each and also made to feel most welcome. Many thanks Drovers Team!

Called in here on Saturday after spending the morning in the area and looking for somewhere to eat. We were not disappointed from the moment we walked through the door, despite not booking a table we were seated immediately in a nice cosy corner of the restaurant. The service was impeccable throughout our visit the staff were always attentive and not in a pushy way. When the food arrived it was beyond expectations the care and effort that had gone into the preparation, cooking and presentation or the food was second to none and the taste was out of this world. We will definitely be back again soon and would definitely recommend.

Hi Graham I never left a review for your afternoon tea. I really don’t understand how this rating could have happened, but thank you so much, for bringing this to my attention. I have been away on holiday.

I must say that the afternoon tea was fantastic! This is the first time my son has ever had afternoon tea, other than Betty’s and he was more impressed with this one! In fact, he enjoyed it so much, that he recommended it to his girlfriend, who then went on to take her mum out, for afternoon tea too.

The service was exemplary (10/10) and the chef could not have been more accommodating (10/10). I left my compliments to the chef, upon leaving - for their outstanding tasty treats - which I suspect were all homemade!

My 2nd son is a head chef and he’s currently the creative director over in Germany, for the Euros. Therefore, my standard of food is extremely high and I have to say that the chef exceeded all of my expectations.

Value for money was great and my youngest son was very impressed by all of the food, that was coming out of the kitchen.

I would highly recommend this establishment, not only for afternoon tea, but for all of your culinary desires.

I hope this review reflects more, to our real experience, than before and I am so sorry, for whatever happened there. I’ve been in touch with Google security and someone did sign in as me.

My dietary needs are, an allergy to fish. When the salmon sandwiches came out, I did inform the server, of my inability to consume fish. She kindly took the sandwiches away and brought out some crayfish ones instead. If I had been asked of any dietary restrictions, when I booked the tea, I would/could have informed you sooner. However, I was never asked this question and neither was I informed to what the afternoon tea consisted of. If this had have been the case, then I would have been saved the embarrassment and you the...

The pub has adapted well to the requirements needed for covid. The outside seating area is lovely with views over a neighbouring field. This said, some of the picnic tables were small meaning if 4 adults were dining, youd be elbow to elbow. The picnic tables also dont cater to those with mobility needs, and this was the only outdoor seating available. Not great if you have hip and knee mobility issues.

The childs chicken nuggets, chips and beans meal arrived without beans. These were never produced. This said, my child was so dissatisfied with the chips, he said not to bother chasing them up. He loved the chicken nuggets, saying they were tasty. The chips tasted dreadful. 3 of us tried them, and all were in agreement.

The nut roast is delicious, and the veg was blanched which is how we like them. Whilst the gravy is incredibly tasty, there is not enough of it to cover any of the veg or the Yorkshire pudding, which meant the food was dry. This was a shame. The roast potatoes were as dreadful as the chips. As a guess I'd suggest both were cooked from frozen.

The staff were polite and engaging.

The car park area isnt great with cars blocking each other in. It's hard to get out, due to incoming cars.

Due to mobility and some of the food issues, we wouldnt return. For the cost, you would expect al of these issues to be ironed out. If you arent a foodie, want to take your dog and eat in beautiful surroundings at a premium cost, knowing its covid secure, then...

Me and my family was going to try this pub for a meal but after the ignorant way I,ve been treated we have decided against it.They advertised a job vacancy on Indeed to which I applied for, I also rang the pub on the Monday to check if the vacancy was still available,I was told that they believed it was,the person took my details and I was told that the manager who was dealing with it would call me to discuss it and let me know either way, saying it would be "possibly tomorrow".The next day no one rang so I left it till 5pm that evening and rang again just to enquire if the vacancy had been filled to save me wasting my time if it had.The assistant manager told me the position is still available and confirmed that they had my details, she said the manager Adam would contact me possibly tomorrow.By Friday still no one had rang or emailed me so I was about to give it up as a bad job -(Exactly).I decided to give it one last try as the job would of been local for me.I managed to speak to Adam the manager himself who said he had been off a few days but said he would put my cv to the top and ring me iether later that day or "tomorrow".It has been nearly two weeks now and no one bothered to ring. What a really bad impression this company has given me.To be told from three members of staff including the manager that they will contact me then not bother is simply rude. This has put me off being a customer if that's how they treat...
