We visited the delightful Howick Hall and gardens, which I can highly recommend. We looked forward to a cup of tea and a couple of slices of the delicious looking cakes displayed in the tearoom.

We ordered loose leaf English breakfast tea, which was adequate but nothing special, and a slice of coffee and walnut cake and blueberry and banana cake. What a massive disappointment!

They looked amazing, but it was a case of good appearance coupled with dismal content! The coffee and walnut cake was tasteless and as dry as sticks (spend your money on an M&S coffee and walnut cake and taste the comparison!), and the banana and blueberry cake managed to be both soggy and dry in equal measures - a remarkable feat! It was also overly sweet and had an unpleasantly artificial flavour. Oh well, at least there are many other tea rooms in Northumberland which haven’t disappointed us. The Earl Grey Tea Room has the award for having the most expensive unpleasant cake...

In 2017 I was so lucky to have found myself at Howick Garden and Earl Grey Tea House for a snowdrop walk. The garden and the Tea House are simply wonderful. The staff at the Tea house are so welcoming, and helpful. I come with my 92 year old Dad who is disabled as often as possible. We are treated so thoughtfully and kindly. The Garden ticket office staff and Gardeners are also absolutely brilliant and could not be kinder as well. The food in the Tea house is delicious. Lovely sandwiches, quiches, soups and salads. "My Dad said .. "Even the coldslaw is good and I don't like coldslaw!" The cakes are lovely. My Dad loves the Earl Grey Teabread best and I love the fruit scones with home made jam. I love everything about Howick Garden and the Earl GreyTea House. If you discover it, count yourself lucky,. You have found a wonderful...

We went in to the teahouse as part of our visit to Howick Hall to see the gardens. The greeting was brusque to say the least. A rather obvious impatience was displayed at any hesitation to order what one wanted at the till. The soup and a toasted sandwich were perfectly good. The coffee cake on the other hand was dry and tasteless. I had ordered my own drink, but when I asked if we could have another cup so that I could taste my wife’s Earl Grey tea the immediate response was “you will have to pay for your tea separately”. In the end I had a sip from my wife’s cup. The tea was no better than we have every day at home. This teahouse needs an attitude improvement and to serve...

Been staying in Scotland 2 hours away from this estate. Saw this featured in Britain magazine and love Earl Gray tea. Was excited to visit. Unfortunately scones were dry and the tea had very little flavor. Twinings Earl Gray tea is much better than that pot of tea I bought. £6.2 for cream tea and £9 to visit the estate. I drove here with a private tour guide, and the sales lady gave me a hard time for paying separately from him. Tea room was adorable, but had way better food at an Edinburgh cafe.... On the positive side, it was perfect for people with mobility issues.

A lovely tea rooms and feelsnlike something special. The earl grey for 2 came with aditional hot water so plenty of it. Prices for sandwiches were on the pricier side (cost extra for the salad and crisps) but the brie and cranberry toastie was very tasty and welcome on a chilly day. Staff were quick to clean tables and have a one way system so felt well covid managed.

Served by the wonderful Vicky who is such a bubbly happy character. The service and food was sublime.. After a walk around the stunning grounds to have lunch of egg and cress sandwiches side salad of plenty.. Crisps.. Sparkling water and a large fresh scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream... What a glorious day.. We will be returning soon...
