My friend and I are regular visitors and just have to say don’t HAVE THE SOUP. We have tried on several occasions as we enjoy a soup after our walks and although the accompanying Bread and butter is usually fresh and tasty the soups are always very watery and tasteless even after trying to improve by adding a couple of salt and pepper sachets!! Today after yet again not being able to eat it we decided to make a a very polite comment to the waitress how did apologise and offer us a cup of tea or coffee but we did politely decline as we had eaten the bread and butter being hungry (although not the soups!!). We weren’t offered a refund which we would have declined anyway but just said we felt it ought to be brought to the chefs attention as the soups are always the same and we hadn’t eaten quite a few recently as always watery and tasteless but as it was supposed to be vegetable??? A different one from before gave them the benefit of doubt!!! So wish we hadn’t!!! Won’t be going there again for our soup!!! Will probably go for a coffee again as most of the staff are lovely...
Read moreCalled in on Saturday afternoon after visiting Hestercombe House And Gardens. Love a good garden centre with a restaurant so took a chance as found on Google maps and was only 10 mins from house. On arrival it was very busy but did manage to park ok. Starving so headed straight to the restaurant. On finding a table I went up and ordered the smashed patty beef burger, with chips and coleslaw and the wife had jacket potato with coronation chicken, dressed salad and coleslaw ..young lady very polite and friendly and said where the cutlery and sauces were.. Food arrived with another polite waitress and the food was well presented. My burger was lovely, beef patty was scrumptious and bun full of pickles, tomato, red onion, lettuce etc.. Wife loved the jacket potato, but only criticism was the butter was on the side of her plate so she had to scoop the coronation chicken out,put the butter in and put back the filling..maybe they should ask at ordering on jackets if butter is required, and put on in the kitchen first..only a suggestion, didn't effect the...
Read moreBeen here several times The food is always good some things on the menu seem a little expensive for what it is however the quality is good so I never mind paying more,I always find they run out of cakes early on weekends so if you want to pop in for a late afternoon coffee and cake there isn't alot to choose from. Barista training is needed for the team however as on several occasions the coffee has either been too bitter/burnt or too sour meaning the espresso hasn't been made correctly. When I returned the drinks the team said they are flat whites they're stronger. The strength wasn't the issue, it was the flavour of the espresso. Sour espresso means it's been brewed too quickly and come out of the machine to quick and bitter/burnt is the opposite and it's taken too long to come out of the machine. I would recommend that you ask your coffee provider to give some training to your...
