I think they had a bad day last Sunday. We were there at the same time as the last reviewer. Arrived at 1. Granted it was busy so had to wait for a table but only for 20mins. We ordered straight away but didn't get our food until 2:30. We left at 3 feeling like we had wasted the whole afternoon waiting in a pub for food with an 18 month old trying to keep him occupied! Luckily I had brought him his own food as back up so he wasn't waiting. There were loads of people leaving looking really unhappy. Not only did we all wait for ages but the food wasn't great and not worth the wait. My husband also had the belly pork and it was really fatty. He loves this dish so knows a good ..or bad belly pork when he gets one. My fish was quite greasy and I left half of it. We saw some other people in the car park and they said the same as us about the food quality and the wait time. I went back in to speak to the land lady just to say that I wish we had been told about the long wait for food. She was quite defensive and said she had checked the tickets and said no-one had to wait longer than 50 mins!! Still a very long wait time for food!!! And ... If this is the case maybe the people taking the orders weren't placing them in the kitchen straight away?? I think we were waiting over 50 mins!!! She said they had not got enough staff in as they didn't expect so many people here this weekend. I can understand this. Its a country pub not pizza express so there are concessions to make when eating in a place like this. What I was most unhappy with was that there was still no apology from the land lady even though I had gone in and was was accepting of her situation. She never said she was sorry no-one told us about the food wait time. I don't normally write reviews but the lack of apology and understanding from a customers point of view just wasn't there. She may be friendly and jovial and seems a likable land lady but she could do with seeing things from the customers point of view and not just from her own. She clearly was only interested in ringing the till through! Unfortunately I think the people we saw in the car park will be voting with their feet like us. We all agreed ...nice pub..but only for a quick drink and a packet of crisps...although I don't think we will be there again in a hurry. Going to the daffy...
Read moreSpent two nights here with my Father and I have to say I was exceedingly impressed with everything. The setting is stunning, and if you're looking for peace and quiet then you'll find it in spades here. All the staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The landlady is very bubbly and was always willing to talk and make time for her guests. The room was lovely, the beds comfortable and the bathroom was very modern with an awesome shower (I was tempted to sleep in it!). We dined both evenings in the restaurant and loved the excellent choice of food to cater for all tastes. Over two evenings we consumed steak, ale and mushroom pie, lasagne and a giant Yorkshire pudding filled with veg (when in Rome as they say!). They were all superb and as my Father had the lasagne on evening one, I copied him and had it on evening two. The accompanying side dishes were also of the highest quality. The veg was fresh (as was the salad) and cooked to perfection, the coleslaw was so tasty I could have ordered it as a main and the chips..... oh my, they were so good that they should be rationed. I would fight a mountain lion with my bare hands while doing the Riverdance on broken glass, just for a bowl of those. The breakfast was equally as good with a great choice of cereal, toast and of course a full English. Everything was homemade too, which is a bonus. What more could you ask for? Overall, I was over the moon with the entire package and so was my Father. I shall return with my wife in tow, or maybe that should be the other way round, as she will be bowled over, and maybe even the kids if we can't lock them in a cupboard. A massive thank you to everyone at The Feversham Arms that made our stay so memorable. A huge pat on the back to everyone involved. Now, did I mention the...
Read moreAfter working in a major city for 3 months. I needed a peaceful escape. I found this little Gem whilst searching on google and thought I would give it a try. We contacted Feversham and they had no rooms available to stay at the pub but they advised we could stay at their cottage just opposite the pub, so we hired the cottage. When we arrived we were greeted by Rachel the landlady and she instantly made us feel welcome. We then went to the cottage and wow! It was the perfect retreat, super cosy, GCH, comfy beds, sofa, all amenities were included. It also had the perfect views from the window. On the evening we went to the pub for food. I couldnât have asked for a better service, Rachel again made us feel very welcome and I ordered the âhotshot Parmesanâ, they were not shy on the portion! If you want a hearty meal, this is your place. The food was delicious!
The next morning we had a hiking trip planned and went for breakfast at the pub and we were greeted with a friendly smile from Paul and Rachel, again the breakfast was delicious, we had a full english, fresh coffee and tea. There are also numerous cereals, juices etc available. We then spent the day hiking around North Yorkshire, beautiful views, and took in the place. After a 12 mile hike we needed food and beer and warmth. We headed straight to the pub. The pub is what you can imagine a full country pub should be, however this place has great depth to it. Two large fires, two cute dogs, cask ales, great hearty food. Rachel really gives the place great character. Paul is very much part of the place too, he also made our stay...
