The Fish Shack — Restaurant in England

Wife and I had different experiences at the same time.

After a hard day and struggling to find a fish and chip shop half decent in Leicester I treated us to fish and chips from The Fish Shack. The customer service is really good, very friendly and smiling. They even had banter with one of their regulars.

I chose this place based on location being close to my home and the many 5 star reviews. Here is my full evaluation...

Wife had small fish and chips with curry sauce. Portion size was very adequate, however, the fish was tepid but you could tell it was a quality product as was flaky and white. The batter became soggy due to loss of temperature.The chips were mildly warm. We both agreed the curry sauce seemed very sweet. She would have given 2 stars for hers.

I had large fish and chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. The chips I agreed was mildly warm, but my fish was piping hot with crispy batter. This makes me think that maybe small fish was under a heat lamp whilst the large fish was cooked fresh. Mushy peas very generic (Wife makes better after adapting a 30p can).

I also ordered a large portion of doner meat to have with curry sauce (just because I'm strange like that). The meat was very greasy and after turning the flash on whilst taking the picture I discovered just how much it shined. Even the curry sauce had a shine to it, possibly from oils used. I was willing to give a 4/5 for my whole experience so between us we settled on 3 stars.

It’s technically 5 stars however I rated it 4 because the food is nice and all that

Waiting times is mediocre could be worse but it could also be better

It takes/taken/took 15 minutes today for me to leave the fish shack

but how come If it sells fish and chips and battered sausage and only then as-well as that kebab then I think that you should sell pizza 2 aswell as that because blue breeze in wigston does

Just ordered from Just Eat from here - the food was probably the worst I have ever ordered! The fish batter was stuck to the paper and what I did peel off was mushy and tasteless. The fish was cold and had no taste - frozen made. The potato fritter again all batter stuck to paper so only potato and the chips were the worst smush I have ever tasted. This has put me off fish and chips for life for sure. Plus the chicken and mushroom pie was microwaved - feeling pretty...
