Think my 3 out of 5 stars is possibly being generous to be honest, I booked a family Sunday roast for my daughters 25th birthday, We were going to take our 16 yr old shih ztu, who's very good, I decided a fare few hours before not to,so I rang to inform them it would be just 5 adults, but when I booked weeks ago I did explain the situation,so the fishpool staff were aware,we were still placed in a dog friendly area which is fine, but there was dog wee under our table and two chairs,my partner took his jacket off, put it on the back of his chair to realise his jacket sleeve was in dog wee, That was just the start, most of our party were really looking forward to the Sunday roast, Roughly about 5 mins before our food arrived a young waitress came to out table to inform us that they'd ran out of Yorkshire puddings, one of the main points of a roast, we weren't offered a substitute,no apology, nothing, lastly, communication is wonderful, maybe informing us when we ordered food, they potentially could run out!! when the waitress was removing our plates she accidentally dropped some cutlery and gravy dishes to which landed on me, In all fairness I really felt sorry for her,she was a lovely girl, very apologetic, but we were sat right next to bar/entrance for booking in staff saw what happened and no one came to ask if I was OK! Very disappointing, I'll not be returning anytime soon. Not happy with the mangers response, very unprofessional..below

Hi, thank you for taking the time to pass on this feedback, although we are of course disappointed to see that your recent visit was not wholly positive. Firstly, we are sorry that we were unable to move your booking from the dog friendly area after you informed us that your dog was no longer coming with you. We hope you can appreciate that Sunday is one of our busiest days with tables booking up extremely quickly, so it was unfortunately not possible to move your table following the changes to your plans. Secondly, we can only apologise that we were unable to offer you Yorkshire puddings with your roast dinners; this was due to the restaurant experiencing a flood in the morning which limited power to the building temporarily and, as a knock-on effect, impacted the kitchen's ability to prep for the day. Although this was an unexpected and unavoidable instance, we are sorry to see the disappointment caused to you. Finally, we must apologise that a member of our team accidentally dropped some cutlery and crockery when clearing your table. We hope you can appreciate that accidents happen, and we are very sorry that this impacted your visit. Again, we are very sorry that your experience on this occasion was not a positive one. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future, so that we might restore your impression of our inn.

Visited, based on recommendation from one of its sister pubs (The Bears Paw). Looks very nice from approach and inside and very comfortable seats offered. Menu looked very nice and proved difficult to decide. Starters: I went for the Ox Cheek, which I've had elewhere and usually proves delicious. Unfortunately, although it turned up promptly and looking nicely presented, it proved to be 75% jelatanous fat, which, of course, is very disappointing given the price of starters alone (photo attached). I know 'fats' can add to the taste, but this was not what was expected given previous servings. My wife didn't opt for a starter, but we shared a goats cheese flatbread (also as shown). This was very nice and by no means disappointing.

Mains: I went for the 'A la Plancha' Bacon Joint with marmalade glaze and fried egg. Again, it looked nicely presented and tasted very nice indeed. Just (again) disappointed, by the overly thick layer of jelatanous fat. This could have potentially been made into a cracking, but ended up being an inch thick slab of leftovers. Otherwise, the meal was lovely.

The dear wife went for the 'Peruvian marinated Chicken Burger', served with hand cut fries and a delicious, if not perplexing, green sauce mayonnaise. (I just wish I ordered what she did).

Dessert:

I went for the ye olde traditional Banoffe Knickerbocker Glory, and the wife had the Elderflower Creme Brulee.

Both were very nice and washed down with pleasing drinks.

Bill was, as expected, very expensive. Moreso given the disappointing starter and main for myself.

A 'discrete' 7.5% tip is automatically added, so be aware. Yes, the service was great, but if I visit again, I'll definitely reconsider the options.

Aimed a bit more towards the 'la dee daa' side of Cheshire 🧐, which I can do, but prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, like its sister pub, as...

I attended The Fishpool Inn for lunch with friends for the first time on Sunday 21st April 2024. I had been really looking forward to attending this venue, as I had heard good reports, however I came away extremely disappointed. The Sunday lunch was poor for the price with chewy roast potatoes and a few strands of greens on the plate, as a token gesture. The service was generally poor, with us having us to chase waiting staff up several times for both drinks and cutlery. The dessert menus arrived on the table ahead of our main course plates being removed and when our desserts did arrive, the chocolate knickerbocker glory was evidently empty in the bottom, with no brownie and the dessert I ordered was incorrect. We were given no cutlery to eat it with, which even after requesting some, took far long to arrive, at which point our ice cream in our desserts was on its way to melting. On calling one of the waitresses over to point the matter out, we were met with the response, “What the hell’s going on?” We asked to split the bill three ways, which was calculated incorrectly, which meant one of us paying more. From start to finish this was an extremely disappointing experience at The Fishpool Inn and despite my friend raising a complaint at the time with the Manager on duty who made a slight adjustment to our bill, this only went part of the way to putting right the overall experience. Sadly this wasn’t money well spent! From three very unsatisfied customers who won’t be...

2ND JULY 2025 ‘Wandering Wednesday’ was back on track today after a number of hurdles over the past few weeks, Neil’s birthday, our Anniversary, Neil covering a shift and me being poorly last week. So today Hubby Neil and I took a good Wander out on the beaten track towards Delamere, to a beautiful pub called ‘The Fishpool Inn’, just off a main road and sat in a lovely pub garden area….. the pub inside was spotless and tastefully decorated. All staff were very polite and were smartly dressed in black attire. The layout of the pub where we were sat was horse based, which was right up my street, some of the tables were set out on old cast iron horse stalls, very impressive…. Bridles on the walls, along with past Polo players and polo mallets…. We both went straight to entrée…. A Lady who worked at IKEA many moons ago recommended us to go there…. Janet Hughes….. it didn’t disappoint…. Thank you Jan…. So on that note we both went for the fish and chips…. With proper soaked overnight mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce, plus a round of bread and butter each. All of the food was beautiful and piping hot, you could taste the salt of the sea in the haddock….. portion sizes were reasonable and not too over facing. Would we go back….. Definitely 100% Plus it’s a lovely drive out in our Cheshire countryside on a beautiful day as today, seeing some of the old houses and farm houses along the way, they were stunning! All in all…. A Grand Day out xxx❤️

We had been told that the fishpool inn was a must for good food and excellent service. We certainly we're not disappointed we decided to each pick a different meal so we could sample a varied range from the menu my wife and I decided to have the large fish and chips the fish portion was very large and tasty this was accompanied by homemade tartare sauce and mushy peas and homemade chunky chips . My daughter and grandaughter chose pizza again homemade they had a plentiful amount of topping whilst being very thin light and tasty. The ladies decided to have a dessert they chose the Chester pudding again the portions were large and tasty the palma violet ice cream deserves a special mention exquisite . The bar had an excellent variety of both beers lagers and spirits a nice touch was you could sample the guest beers. Prices are competitive staff we're attentive to your requirements and very polite. All in all a great experience which we will be doing again
