Abbeywood is a beautiful location with a lovely cafe serving very good food - normally. They have worked hard to change their business model by expanding their cafe provision. However, sadly they have become a victim of their own success. We called there yesterday and we had an appalling experience. We waited for our meal and drinks for 45 minutes, after that time we were told there was only 1 roast beef left, I selected an alternative, after another 10 minutes we were told that option was also sold out. Our humour was still maintained even when told the diet coke I ordered was still in storage so I was provided with a fizzy water. We were still in good humour and eventually our meals arrived, more than an hour after ordering and the beef was obviously the scraps from the joint, tough and grisly, the veg was cold. He tried to blame us for not booking despite the website saying that pre booking is not required and then he hung up on me rather than apologise or accept any responsibility. Very entitled, rude behaviour. We...

Straight out of the picturesque cafe/restaurant is a stunning tropical garden and further exploration leads to immaculately kept herbaceous borders, ponds and wisteria arches to name a few. Beyond this lies a woodland walk, wildflower meadows, new arboretum and kitchen garden. We also spent a lovely time saying hi to a beautiful pair of horses, flock of sheep and varied chickens and ducks. All in, a great place to while away a couple of relaxing hours in glorious surroundings; would...
