Starting with the welcoming communications before we arrived right through to leaving, this was a very enjoyable experience. |Sarah and Paul are very friendly and attentive hosts. We arrived early and had a drink in the very well appointed bar before we were shown our room. |The room was well appointed with a floor standing fan (weather was very warm), a coffee pod machine, cube for charging gadgets and a selection of toiletries. The bed was super comfortable and we had a very good nights sleep. |Shower was excellent with plenty of hot water and the room, as did the rest of the premises, was in immaculate condition. |Breakfast was preordered the night before, and was very good with plenty of choice. We both opted for the full English and a special mention for the bacon and sausage which I thought was excellent although my wife felt the bacon was a bit salty. That says more about our taste! |My wife elected to have tea and, unlike so many places, was a good, strong brew. |While we didn’t use the restaurant in the evening, it was clearly popular and friends in the area who have visited said it was very good. |The Inn is on a busy road junction but there was nothing that disturbed our sleep and there was plenty of off road parking. |Would we stay at the Five Dials Inn again? Absolutely....

Lovely pub nice atmosphere and good friendly service. Really nice looking menu which unfortunately did not meet expectations. All 3 courses had some issues. My starter was missing a component and lacked seasoning and my husband starter of bread with oil and balsamic they did not get the ratios right. There was a lots of bread but a very small amounts of oil and balsamic also it wasn’t really the right type of bread for this starter. My husband’s main course which was salmon was far too overcooked and very dry. The deserts had issues too they looked amazing and were very well presented. I had elderflower and strawberry jelly which was set in a pyramid mould looked fantastic but you should not be able to pick up a whole jelly with your fork. There is far too much gelatin used and not enough elderflower there was no flavour to the jelly. It was such a shame this is a really nice place to eat and the menu really is a good menu it just needs to be executed a little...

So booked here as wanted somewhere to stay on way to parents. I've gone past and liked look of place. The owners Sarah and Paul are really lovely and friendly. I paid for room including breakfast. The room was nice but think price could be lower. The bed wasn't very comfortable, the room was clean and had tea, coffee facilities. We had to book breakfast night before which don't like as I don't think really know what going to fancy. Didn't really enjoy the breakfast and sausages bit strange. We booked a table for an evening meal when checked in, menu not really got much choice, I was a bit taken back that I didn't want peas and asked for bit seasonal vegetables instead of which was charged extra £5.00. It was reasonable priced for drinks. Was nice atmosphere and friendly place. Plenty of parking. And seating inside and outside. This is situated between Illminster, Chard and Broadway. I did enjoy the stay as like said owners are really nice and generally nice place.

What an unexpected treat! On our way to Cornwall, there was massive traffic and so a diversion and our group's hunger brought us to this Inn/Pub/Restaurant. It was past their serving time for lunch but hosts Lorna and Carly were too kind to us. Without batting an eye, they proceeded to ask the lovely and gracious chefs to accommodate us. They were able to make for our Italian party paninis. The bread itself was wonderfully grilled and they had three options: Steak Fajita melt, Goats Cheese with Pesto and Mushrooms and Honey-Glazed ham. Simple but effective. We stayed inside due to the heat but if you go through the main dining room and out past the loos, you get to an almost hidden but quaint garden where one can dine or drink as well. We envy anyone who lives near this place as they are truly doing a marvelous job! Thanks again to the chefs and the hosts, Grazie mille!

I was working in the area for a few days and looked at TripAdvisor for reviews to choose a restaurant. The menu looked very good but I chose to eat steak as my main and scallop for starter (just to be on the safe side). Both were beautifully cooked. However, they were both TOO salty. And I have to say that am a person that likes food well seasoned! I basically LOVE my salt. But this was over the top even for me. With the starter I thought ok it's seafood, it's a bit salty but alright then. But for my beautifully cooked steak (rear) to be salty too I could NOT understand it! When I was asked about my food I mentioned it but they did not do anything to remedy it i.e.change it or something like that. It spoiled my experience which is such a shame.
