Went here tonight with four friends, never eaten here before, varied menu , typical pub food, pies, steaks, specials board and what food they could offer us was ok/average. The real frustrating thing was there were various main dishes they’d run out of by 19:30 on a Saturday night which we found strange, this included some specials. Unfortunately the theme then continued with deserts, various not available including the home made ones. After dinner no one came to ask if we wanted coffees as you would expect so as the Landlord finally collected the dishes (never asked us if the meal was ok) we asked if we could order coffees, he gave a very abrupt NO and simply walked away, very strange and not very professional at all. We thought he was joking so one of the party then went and enquiried at the bar and he said NO I’m short staffed so not doing them tonight. Our bill came to £114 for five of us for two courses and 5 drinks, we didn’t leave a tip, however I have a tip for the Landlord; learn some basic Customer Care otherwise you won’t have any Customers left! Very poor service and we won’t be going back there I’m afraid, shame as fairly local, nice dining room and we went with high expectations. The waitress was very friendly and this review has no...
Read moreThe room had clearly been recently renovated/ put together and was aesthetically pleasing for the most part.||||The bed was extremely uncomfortable as it was so firm, we didn’t sleep well for either of the nights that we were there and we both experienced some discomfort with our backs. The bed wasn’t a double bed and was just two singles pushed together. ||The breakfast was disappointing; it was advertised as ‘continental OR buffet breakfast’. The use of the word ‘or’ would imply that there was an alternative to the continental breakfast however this wasn’t the case. ||Upon arrival, we were greeted by a man who was quite abrupt. There was no real welcome and we felt as though he just wanted to get us out of the way as soon as possible. On the other hand, the woman who dealt with our payment was very friendly but we felt that it was too little too late as this was when we were about to leave. ||The room was not serviced during our stay, some clean cups would have been appreciated. It would have also been nice to have some water or at least some glasses available. ||The stairs up to the rooms were extremely steep and very cramped which would not be ideal for someone who struggles with mobility, or ever perhaps a...
Read moreWe recently visited their Fox Inn during a family holiday and could not fault it. We made a late booking on the Saturday afternoon for 14 people and they were able to accommodate us no problem. When we arrived, we were set up in the back and staff were very friendly. We ordered our drinks and food and asked if the kids meals could come out first which they were able to accommodate. The food was delicious, fresh and tasted so good, they were even able to do a scoop of ice cream with sauce for the kids whilst we ate our mains. The menu isn’t extensive but everything brilliant, cooked perfectly and there were no leftovers. My youngest son even asked if we could go back the next day. A lovely little place that’s definitely worth visiting again. Thanks so much to the staff and the team there, we really enjoyed our visit and would not hesitate to return or recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal in a...
