I came to this place based on its excellent google reviews. The menu and food did not disappoint! I was a little annoyed that i wasnt offered the specials by my server and after i had ordered a different server offered the table next to me - garlic king prawns tail on and 10oz rump - sounds amazing! I had snails for the first time, tasted like chewy dirt but that was taste preference. They were cooked to perfection, my chicken kiev was the best ive ever tasted and the vegetables..... makes me want to move closer 😂 The staff were friendly, attentitve although they were so busy as it was a saturday evening. Drinks and food reasonably priced. If i lived closer i would be here every week. 10/10 for food. 4/5 for service.

Can't knock the staff, and I did get my burger taken off the bill. I'm all for a small menu, but with that, I would expect a much higher standard of food quality and presentation for the prices being charged. £16.50 for a burger. The photo shows what I ate. Partner had scampy and chips, over cooked, possibly dirty fryer fat? (it tasted of onions) and itty bitty scampy. Looking around at other dinners I was not tempted to go back. (Sorry, I know everyone is earning hard, but feedback here is required)

We have recently visited several time over the christmas and new year with my 2 dogs (gracie and Betty for the people we met) and my partner. The staff have been very nice, helpful in regards to the dogs and all round lovely! The bar area is relaxed and chatty in retaliation to the restaurant which is very well tuck away so you have the meal your after. Thank you for the hospitality

We used to go here a lot and although the menu price was expensive it was worth it. I think they've changed management as the resident dog was not there. We haven't been there for some time but when we sat down at the table it was dirty. The tables mats needed to replaced, in fact they were falling apart. On a closer look some of the lamps shades had holes in them, and the settee in the window had a huge rip in it. I felt comforted with the fact that the cutlery was encased in very nice white napkins. The starters was very nice, but we both had mussels as a main course and mine was very salty. I do understand that mussels come from the sea and to expect some kind of salt, but I think the chef over did the salt, and one of my mussels was still closed!!! None of the staff came across to ask if everything was alright? Shame I would have pointed that out. We paid the bill and one the way out the waitress said that she was sorry that we didn't find it a good experience. It would take me a while to go back here. £15.00 for a place of mussels without chips, although we asked for no chips but no price refuction was offered, or an...

Great experience, we booked for Sunday lunch, and as a party of 13 adults, 1 baby and 2 dogs, I think the staff accommodated us well. Obviously we couldn't take the dogs in the restaurant area, but after juggling a few tables, they seated us in the bar area. The staff were pleasant and welcoming, drinks and food orders were taken in a nice relaxed pace, not feeling rushed at all. The Sunday menu options were more than adequate, ranging from full roasts, Lamb, beef or pork to burgers, scampi or sausage and mash with seasonal veg ( the latter was delicious I might add). The decor throughout was light and clean, and the lighting was good ( not always the case in older country pubs. There were a number of bench style tables outside at the front, i didn't actually notice if there was a rear garden. Overall we had a lovely lunch, everyone commented on how nice the food was. There was a number of takers in our party for deserts. The adjacent bar had a TV showing sky sports (not for everyone, but a nice option to have). The toilets were clean and in good order. The drink options were plentiful. Would definitely...

I Had been very disappointed in the past with the way this pub operates with bookings etc but the food is amazing there. At some Point I went there without a booking and although there were many tables available I was told I couldn’t stay cause I did not have a reservation. Tips; Always call them and book a table! ALWAYS! On Sundays order the pork shoulder roast without any sides etc cause it’s more than enough The burgers during weekdays are amazing The place is nice an clean but sometimes the management feels a bit weird and although they say hello , if feels like they really want to say get out of here Staff members are lovely (so far) although on Sunday’s they have lots of reservations so they want you to

  1. sit
  2. eat
  3. pay
  4. run away as fast as possible

But again the food is lovely .... When people go out to eat they don’t have to compromise in mediocre experiences... they go out to have fun and get the full package. Customer service , environment, good food.

That’s the reason I gave 3stars

But the food...
