Been a few times and food is generally well presented, however when our cheese pie turned up we would have been better served had we been given a steak knife to cut through the pastry, it had obviously been reheated.

In terms of service it wasn't our best experience! Having asked for de cafe tea my wife asked the male waiter if they had plant based milk and was told no, my wife said it was surprising as we were given a large vegan menu....his reply was i don't make the rules 🤔

We ordered our food with 1 couple in the pub and after the couple received their food we waited another 20mins when my wife saw the waitress behind the bar look concerned after she realised she hadn't put our ticket through.

When we asked how long for the food we were told there was an issue with the machine and the order hadn't gone through...15min later the food arrived.

Now during the whole time we sat there the inner door into the pub was like a revolving door as the pub filled, except it wasn't revolving and the soft door closer wasnt working and banged everytime someone went in and out ...loundly

When you are paying probably on average £17 for a main course and the choices are not great with the steak pie being off the menu we were very disappointed

Would we go back ! Maybe if we were dressed up and eating in the main restaurant we may get a better experience otherwise ...no.

There are to many great pubs to choose from in the area so unfortunately next time we will visit...

I'd read some great reviews of this place, which was why we diverted off the M6 on our way up to Scotland. I was a little bit put off when we initially entered when we were greeted by a gentleman behind the bar with "bar food or A la carte", luckily I'd looked at the menu online, so knew we were only wanting bar food, but if I hadn't done this, we'd have had no idea.

However we seated ourselves in the bar area, and a lovely lady came over asking if we'd like a high chair for our 6 month old, and telling us to use as many and any of the cushions we wanted to to pad out the highchair and make it comfy (it was our baby's first time in a highchair).

We ordered the fish & chips and toasted ham and cheese sandwich. There was a bit of confusion over the toasted sandwich ingredients between the waitress and the gentleman at the bar, as they didn't seem to know what they were offering on the menu. But this was sorted and the food was lovely.

The pub itself is wonderfully historic and in a lovely village setting, it was a shame we were on a long journey as it would have been nice to have taken a stroll around the village.

The car park was a bit narrow, but thankfully I had a reversing camera on our hire car. And there was a slightly confusing message on the side door which said the front door was around the back, but after some walking back and forth it was out what we took to be the front...

Pre-booked a table for two on a Sunday evening (5:45pm), arrived about 20mins early and were able to find a parking space (as others have mentioned this is very tight). Despite arriving early we were shown straight to our table. They were very busy as you would expect at this time on a Sunday at a pub that's famous for their Sunday roasts. It took about 15 mins to order drinks and we used that opportunity to order food too as we course the staff were very busy. They didn't have any of one of the starters we ordered (baked camembert) but suggested some alternatives duck bon bons. Despite how busy they were the starters (2 x portions of the duck bon bons) arrived promptly, it did take some time for our plates to be cleared but as mentioned the staff were rushed off our feet. Our main courses arrived hot and nicely presented (2 x 14 hour braised beef and ale pie) and they were delicious and good portions. We did order another round of drinks last way through the main course but these never arrived, again I think due to how busy they were (we were not charged for these drinks).

Really nice atmosphere, lots of people enjoying themselves, nice and warm with log fires going and...

A village pub with great character and class, with a small car park to the rear and some outside seating too. We chose to eat in the bar area. However, further back, there is the option to sit in the dining section, which did look very inviting. There is a sign to say well-behaved dogs welcome on leads in the bar, which is great, so we will certainly visit again with ours! The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We were only inside for moments and were warmly treated and shown to our seats. The food was delicious. We weren't adventurous and just had the burger and chips. However, the photo does not do it justice, neither of us could finish the meal, it was freshly cooked with a reasonable waiting time, the food was of a good quality, tasty and filling, to the point we just couldn't face a pudding so a return trip is a must! It's such a shame that more villages don't have such a unique and valuable asset for the locals. Great budworth is very fortunate to have the George and Dragon!

Restaurant is situated in the most beautiful urban scenery in whole Cheshire. Food has decent standard, they also have great local bitter ale named after the village. Staff is friendly, atmosphere absolutely breathtaking. This is real England. Bit pricy tho, but it's understandable, nothing good come for free, does it.. Only big minus is parking. Loads of cars destroy whole quiet atmosphere in village, most of the (big) cars are restaurant guests. Would be great go with western European standards and slowly move cars from city/village centers to designated parking spaces around/near village. There are big fields all around. Village consist of 5 streets, so people would walk no more than 4 minutes. (This is only suggestion from an architect's perspective) Apart from that, The George & Dragons is an amazing place and I would definitely recommend it to everyone I know
