I had been to The George Inn many times, enjoyed the food and service and have always highly recommended it to friends & family. So much so that for my partners birthday I booked a table, called and booked in December for February as I know how booked up they get. Upon arrival we were seated to a table in the bar - I was not expecting to be sat in the bar area, by the exit when we booked 2 months prior. We received our drinks orders promptly and that is where everything started to go downhill further. We were sat with our drinks for 20 minutes, no food order taken. A table of four arrived after us, they had their food order taken and we waited but no one came to the table. I had to go up to the bar and ask if we could have our order taken after waiting nearly 30 minutes. Our order was taken and we waited 45 minutes, the owner/chef came and apologised and then offered to move us out of the bar area - we accepted. Our steaks arrived and we had both ordered medium rare fillets, mine was larger and was cooked well, my partners was undercooked and almost blue! When our table was cleared we mentioned the undercooked steak (which my partner had left half of) the waiter said he’d mention it to the chef. We were offered dessert and by this point we just wanted to leave…. We asked for the bill and nothing was ever mentioned about the undercooked steak. Read moreMy husband, my mother and I recently spent three nights, at The George, visiting our daughter and celebrating my husbands 60th birthday.||||Firstly the accommodation was everything we wanted and more. It was spacious, very clean, warm and excellent choice for my mother, who at 87 does have mobility problems, due to the rooms being single storey so no stairs and having a wet room. We had tea, coffee, chocolate, milk and sugar (the milk was topped up every day). It was great that the milk was in a glass bottle so no nasty little plastic pods that you can’t open. There was a selection of breakfast cereals and fruit too. One little tip is to remove the tray holding the crockery from the top of the fridge as it can rattle at night when the fridge motor kicks in.||||We had a family celebration meal on the Saturday night and it was excellent. We were a fairly large group and were given a room to ourselves. This even had a couple of family games which were fun. The food was delicious and we felt very spoilt as the staff ensured that we had a lovely evening.||||Graham and Candice were delightful and you could tell that they put everything into this business to ensure that it was somewhere that you wanted to return to. We will 100%...
