The George — Restaurant in England

Lovely community run little cafe opposite the church in Martock in a beautiful building made from the local stone, if only the stone could tell the stories it must of witnessed over the years. The staff were wonderfully welcoming and especially as they were in the midst of chaos after losing Internet and card payment facilities they relied on good old paper and pen.

Ordered some delicious looking cakes and cream tea for the kids, all giving a big thumbs up. I looked at the specials board and went with a simple cheese and ham toasted sandwich in white bread. Served with a side salad and crisps. Nothing special but also nothing wrong with it, all tasted as expected, freshly made with a pleasing cheese pull without totally burning my mouth.

We go here every week after baby group and are always welcome. It is often busy in the morning but the staff always help us with highchairs and hot water for food. There's a place at the back to park prams, the changing facilities are always clean and like new, and the cake is so delicious. Impromptu stop for tea and cake whilst on our dog walk. Very friendly staff who provided water and biscuits for our dog. Good selection of cake, including a lovely one made especially for Jubilee, the coffee was very good too. Prices were extremely reasonable, a pot of tea, a coffee and 2 decent slices of cake were £8.95. Definitely recommend and s detour we will...
