Really lovely pub, with great outdoor space/garden with a space for over 100 properly spaced. We went during the day on Sunday and although they only had three BBQ items on the menu,( until 3pm when they serve wood fired pizzas), beef, chicken and veggie burger, we were not disappointed. We chose a burger and the butterfly free range chicken burger to share with our 5yr old. All served with chip with and upgrade to truffle and garlic on one chips. The burger was perfect served with home made bun and coleslaw and about 6 oz so enough for a big appetite, over 90/100 and would make me visit again when in the area. The chicken burger was even bigger at 8-10 oz and perfectly cooked tender and juicy. The prices are reasonable at 10 and 12 respectively and the chips again 9/10. It's a really nice environment, super friendly staff, not busy, has a several areas in the garden included ample covered space a gazebo with heater and fairy light. There is an outside bar which is fully stocked and has a billiard table. Worth the journey if you are visiting castle Howard or the arborium. No coffee or tea, which was a big shame since machines are so cheap now days...even a nespresso... Definitely worth a...

Found while staying at castle howard campsite. A charming village pub with a smashing atmosphere and a querky decor created by the taste of the landlord/lady and the many things that they have gathered and display in the pub, from a Honda step through to 2 disected engines amongst many other interesting things. There is a brick pizza oven outside and I can vouch that they are tasty and will not dissapoint, if a little expensive for a Pizza. BUT I am a tight Yorkshireman! It is a freehouse, so good choice of Beers etc. Outside there is a large covered area with a firepit, so if raining not an issue. They are obviously geared up for events, theme nights or entertainment with another ouside food area. Amazing. What we need to mention is the cleanliness of the place! everywhere even with 2 open fires going. Credit to the Cleaning Team! Negative, no car park. NOT their fault but on road parking, so not an issue. Landlady is a pleasure to chat with....

Quirky pub with a few dining rooms which offer the dinner a quiet dining experience in a warm friendly atmosphere. Menu is written on a board with locally sourced foods. Prices are very reasonable Food is well cooked and we'll presented.prices. Pigeon breast served with black pudding and poached egg. Beef bourginon with potato.(I have to recommend this dish). Bar is clean and open with a friendly atmosphere. Beer garden to the back of the pub is heated by a log fire .long tables allow for group get together .music playing but not too loud. Further back is a children's play area with seating for parents. Pizza on site cooked by wood fired oven. A great place to relax and enjoy an afternoon after walking or an evening meal. Would say booking to ensure availability is advisable as busy pub. Dogs welcome and drinking...

We came here on a Sunday evening since we heard about great pizza and live music. We arrived at 7 PM and unfortunately they were already out of pizza and only had crisps and crackers to offer. We were already about to leave when a friendly couple from the table next to us offered to share their pizza - and it was delicious! So in the end we had a great evening with wonderful live music, good beer, delicious pizza and very nice conversations with friendly people in a good atmosphere. We can definitely recommend this place! But keep in mind that pizza is only served on Saturdays and Sundays from 5 PM - and better be early to get your pizza!

Came across this stunning pub nestled within a beautiful village in North Yorkshire. Me and my friend immediately felt welcome upon entry and the interior of the pub has just such a homely vibe to it and has some amazing local beers on tap and their stone baked pizzas are one of the best I’ve had. The pub was so busy however the staff made sure everyone was served quickly and this made the stay enjoyable. If you visit this country pub you won’t be disappointed, we will be back.
