Have frequented this establishment many times for meals for family numbers from 4 persons to 10. 4 of us was there last night the 13th of May for a birthday. Long story short, food good, drinks good price, service terrible. We were given our food by a tall guy with bushy beared who plonked the starter plates down so hard on the table in front of us it was like he was serving cattle. We all looked at each other, it was so bad in how it was served. He did exactly the same with the mains and just pushed my plate across the table at me pushing my cutlery out of the way. It was lile we were just animals being thown our food, The only reason I didn't t react to it was I didn't want the spoil my sisters birthday meal. I paid the bill, on the way out I Spoke to the manager and complained, giving him the details of the appalling service we had received. His response was that it was probably due to the fact they were very busy. What a reply to give to a customer. I told him that was no excuse. He then Said it could have been because the guy serving us was tired. I was given no apology at all in anyway at anytime. I walked away totally disgusted by the whole experience from both the waiter/whome ive been informed since is the assistant manager and the manager himself. Reading this review site it appears there have been other complaints about this same tall guy with a beared at The Great Northern. I will go again as its my local, if this terrible service by this guy happens again then the whole pub will be aware of my displeasure re this appalling service. I won't be so...

Its a nice pub with a good selection of drinks. We visited last night and with the nice weather, it was busy and the atmosphere was good. The place itself is nice on the outside with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the sunshine. The inside is equally as nice. The staff are all friendly, helpful and accomodating. The service was still very good despite the demand. The only thing that let the place down was the food. We ordered a nacho sharer for a starter followed by a Chicken and Leek pie and a Chili bowl with potato wedges. The nachos were slightly under cooked so there was a lot of grated cheese on the plate. The chicken and Leek pie had a fantastic pastry crust which was delicious however, the chicke was shredded to bits which made the inside of the pie a little gloopy. The Chilli bowl came with what looked like an entire baked potato chopped up and the mince tasted very grainy, like it had been frozen and pulled from the microwave. All in all, we had a nice time and will go back. The pub is definitely a great place to go. The atmosphere and staff were great and the drinks were good. The food was good but could have been better, hence 4 stars...

I have always had a good meal here, however; we arrived and they had no record of our booking and no resolution. So we went i to the bar for a drink and ask if we could eat there and could but needed to order at the bar, no problem. We ordered and sat down, now the bar is very run down compared to the other side, there is a corner seated area that would not look out of place in a crack house. Anyway we both had Chicken and Stilton pie which I have had there before but this time wasn't the best, pastry went from rock hard (my wife left hers) to something that felt like it came out of a microwave. We did actually ask if they had been microwaved and were told no. The pie filling was slop no pieces of chicken and no real sign of Stilton.

It was edible and ok but probally the worst meal I have ever had at this establishment. Staff were very good other than some guy with a beard that seemed in charge that really needed to learn how to interact with humans.

We actually used the function room and I have to say the buffet was very good and the staff were more...

Visited couple of weeks ago and frankly the food was average at best. We didn't have a reservation but the staff were able to find us a spot which was nice. Ordered the Ultimate burger. Served quickly but that's where it stops really. For an ultimate burger I would at least expect a brioche bun. The chicken was actually quite nice and moist but the beef burger was bland, frankly, even MCD has more taste to their burgers. There were also fried onions but it was more like burnt greasy onions. On the side there was a decent portion of chips but these were also greasy and not in a nice way. All in all, rather average and slightly disappointed given so many positive reviews and recommendations from friends. Will give it another go soon

This place is tastefully fitted out internally and externally. The feeling of style can be appreciated immediately. I have not been in a nicer place since visiting Harry in Frogmore. The outside seating, immediately behind the hotel, is great. There is a nice wedding guest area behind a private function room. Why 4 stars after so much praise? IF YOU OWN A DOG, there is no internal space to warm you up on a cold day or winters night. The large garden area is great in the summer but on a cold winters day - no chance. Sorry but you need to make one room dog and boot friendly.

absolutely adore this little venue! 🌷 every member of staff was a delight to maintain interaction with & very quick paced regarding food delivery time; decor was beautifully designed especially their menu & the variety of drink/food is very well crafted. pricing wise, it's phenomenal for one share starter, two mains & three drinks for 60 pounds is such great value, i always tip also 🍴 i must say the garden area is wonderfully modelled ( i do enjoy fairy lights with a sip of wine ) ✨️
