The Guardhouse Cafe in Brixham truly lives up to its reputation as a seaside gem. From the moment we arrived, the allure of the location was undeniable. Perched perfectly, the cafe offers breathtaking views stretching over the sea and the rugged, picturesque rocky outcrops nestled beneath the cliffs.
Our visit was blessed with glorious sunshine, which amplified the already stunning panorama. Sitting outside, we were completely captivated by the sweeping vista, a truly idyllic setting for a relaxing afternoon. The cafe's exterior space is clearly designed to maximise this advantage, and it delivers in spades. While we opted for outdoor seating, a quick peek inside revealed a clean and tidy establishment. The atmosphere felt welcoming, and the service we received was consistently friendly and professional. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, striking a perfect balance. We were particularly impressed by their proactive approach to allergen awareness, a thoughtful touch that demonstrates a genuine commitment to customer care.
Of course, no cafe review is complete without mentioning the food. We indulged in a slice of cake, which was undeniably tasty and complemented the overall experience perfectly. It's clear that the Guardhouse Cafe prioritises quality, both in its offerings and its service.
In summary, the Guardhouse Cafe is a must-visit for anyone seeking a delightful seaside experience in Brixham. The combination of incredible views, friendly service, and delicious treats makes it a standout destination. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat or a memorable spot to enjoy the coastal scenery, the Guardhouse Cafe delivers on all fronts. Highly...
Read moreSo sad to write this but we used to love this place, location beautiful, dog friendly, but cafe in new hands since last visit and gone downhill, food was local and great butchers quality, not anymore. If you are gluten free be very careful, my son is coeliac and Cross contamination is high, it's a shame as one of the brothers that owned it before was coeliac and got it, while I would say they are coeliac aware, they really need better training and to creat separate prep and cooking areas, despite ringing ahead and being told there were lots of gluten free options we got there and the only thing my son could have was a bacon sandwich with no butter. Why? Well they use same fryers for everything, butter is used for normal and gf bread so cross contaminated, sausages also contain gluten! I mean honestly even Lidl sausages are gf. Lesson learned will not be back unless major changes are made, pretty sure that the bacon and sausage are cooked on same fryers plate but could not see, guess my son will find out hard way if he is in excruciating agony later. I recommend either the cafe makes major changes or puts warning not suitable for coeliac or gluten allergies, you could kill someone guys, gf is serious not a bandwagon, do it right or dont do it!! Take a leaf out of rockfish's book, that is doing it right and they are coeliac...
