Arrived for a tasty steak and a couple of beers with my partner. Good covid practices and social distancing in place. Very pleasant bar staff were welcoming and happy spirited. The beer was great and reasonably priced. The food however was shameful. My partner ordered a beef and ale type pie with mash and veg. I ordered a medium rare steak with peppercorn sauce, chips and sweet potato fries. The delay serving the food was awful. The two meals were served 10 minutes apart from each other too. My partners mash was unflavoured, unseasoned and bitterly bland. Her pie had cold meet pieces inside and the pastry was an apology for what it could have been. She left 90% of her meal. My medium rare steak was very small for its menu description, was actually cooked as well done, and my sauce had to be reordered as it originally failed to arrive with the meal. When it did turn up it was merely warm. I also left 80% of the meal. We were offered a full refund, which we chose not to accept. We chose to leave the place in utter disappointment and leave an honest review to reflect our experience. I wish them well, but I couldn’t ever recommend the restaurant side of the business. The beer I had was great, and my wife’s coffee was also okay. It ruined our Sunday afternoon completely. I wouldn’t...
Read moreVisited this evening and it was not particularly busy, however, despite plenty of staff front of house, the bar service was slow. Food service was even worse! We weren't warned of a long wait yet it took an age to arrive, somewhere in the region of 45-60 minutes.
A lot of the menu wasn't available - no scampi, fish fingers etc. No jerk chicken skewers, no pork belly....
Having waited so long for our mains, by the time we tried to order desserts, at about 8.45pm they said the kitchen was closed. Not good when they closed early but didn't ask us if we wanted dessert first. OK, we'll have coffees instead. Nope! They had turned the machine off.
Now, whilst I appreciate it wasn't the busiest of nights, it was still around half full on the dining side. Your advertised hours say takeaway food is available till 9pm and you open until 10pm. Clearly untrue. No apology, slow service and an unfinished meal. Not good at all.
Never have this trouble at the Iford, they are brilliant and a Sizzling pub too... My advice? Go to the Iford Bridge, it's worth the drive - you'll still get your...
Read moreThe venue was nice. Staff were friendly. The biggest issue was the awful app which experienced no end of faults whilst trying to order. It took us 40 minutes to order via the app. The app kept crashing, then signing me out then suddenly not recognising my details. We pursued the app due to the 40 percent off offer. When we finally managed to get to the payment screen, the app did not apply the offer despite entering the code and the app accepting the code. In the end we gave up as it was stressing us out and we had been waiting almost an hour to even order. The food took quite a while to come out despite only 5 tables in the restaurant ordering food. This may have felt longer due to the already excessive amount of time the app consumed. When I asked the waiter about the app issue, his response was that 'yes it seems to be messing up for a lot of people, try again next time'. I had hoped he might offer to apply the discount but sadly not. This did ruin the experience overall however the food was delicious and good quality. The venue was nice and the staff...
