Went hear regularly as I live on the door step, staff great and always been very nice, bad experience recently with a manager (baldy head), seemed to judge me felt like he seemed to look at me like a scum bag, I’m a gambler and enjoy it, it relaxes me from my anxiety and mental health problems I have, so enjoy a few beers and a gamble on the machines they have in there, good game choice etc and I can have a beer thought it was great, don’t get me wrong over time I must of put nearly a £1000 in them machines and a few weeks ago I was in and happened to drop 2 jackpots of £200, kindly changed at the bar around £60, I then won some more and stood waiting for the manager to change it, I turned round and noticed the machines where switched off, I said can you change me £200 and he said he cannot change that much, fair enough was worth an ask I thought. So I said why have you turned the machines off because of me? As I just dropped the jackpots, and the manager then started to insinuate that I was rigging machines!! Stating why are you asking ? That abit strange, there was an error code on the screens, which was a complete lie he must of thought I was stupid, and the continued to tell me should I turn them off because of you? Still insinuating I rigged or tampered with the machines, this is an absolute joke, and to be honest it’s upset me to think you can start accusing someone like that especially suffering badly from anxiety it doesn’t help! Was it because I had joggers and trainers on? Don’t judge a book by its cover, shame because now I don’t...
Read moreVisited here a year or so ago when visiting friends and everything was first class so when we returned last night for another visit we all agreed this was the place to go. The drinks where spot on and very reasonably priced so we thought "jackpot" then we ordered food. I ordered one of the new meals on the menu, steak and kidney pudding with mash and peas and waited with anticipation. What a let down when it arrived. The pudding itself was crunchy in parts, it was more like a pie crust and the mashed potato was hard and dry, what there was of it, I think it must have been put on the plate with a dessert spoon instead of a full sized serving spoon, I have two regrets now, one is ordering it in the first place and I really wish I had taken a picture of it as I think there would have been more on the plate for a child's portion. The two stars are for the...
Read moreThe last time that I was in this place I was watching an Iggy Pop cover act in the back room. But now it's a Wetherspoons, and what a transformation! The first thing I noticed was the air conditioning, which made the cramped establishment very comfortable. The usual Wetherspoons bar service let the place down, in Wetherspoons bars it seems to me that, staff never serve people in the correct order that they arrive at the bar and the staff generally congregate at the central area forgetting about the perimeter areas of the bar, leaving certain customers wondering whether to stick it out or leave the establishment. The Coors lager was £2.46p per pint, very cheap in my opinion, other drinks were all priced extremely competitively. I will be revisiting Crook sooner...
