Took my daughter and her partner here last night to celebrate her birthday and also her 20 week scan . Was seated in the restaurant area of the pub , nobody else there ( not surprised now) it was cold , and lets say the feel of the whole occasion was not nice at all . The barman/ waiter was very polite taking our orders and throughout the duration of our visit Starters - I personally ordered the buffalo chicken wings , with what could only be described as some horrendous sauce absolutely smothered the dish which was sitting on some slop which I presume was coleslaw. The two ladies ordered the potato skins, tell me if im wrong now but a jacket potato cut in half is Not Potato Skins !! Because that is what they were served!!! The mains - Aubergine and Tomato curry with chickpeas, no flavour and the chickpeas had just been poured out of the tin , still hard !! The chips that came out with fishcake and cod dishes looked like they’d been cooked in engine oil , omg chef change your cooking oil occasionally, it works winders The photos below indicate how bad the food was as this is what is left at the end . We did complain to the waiter, the manager did not want to discuss ( embarrassed probably) I mean what manager cannot talk to his customers!! A £10 discount was applied to our bill of over £100 , I would rather of paid double and been able to say I really enjoyed that meal and that occasion. But the truth is we didn’t and I feel a little bit embarrassed for this...

This is an odd place with all the trappings you expect of country pubs these days with outdoor space used for tables, a marquee for cover and the like...

I'll start with the good bit. Service was efficient and the young man who served our group of 9 was charming and efficient. Unfortunately, I also have to get to the not so good bit. An amazingly long menu making selecting food difficult which was added to by a lengthy list of items not available.

Food when it arrived was a bit variable as some had to be sent back as it was cold in the middle. My hand cut has was a generous portion but it definitely wasn't hand cut and the chunky chips were rather industrial looking.

I'm not being difficult as previous reviewers have reported on the variable quality. Apparently the pub tenants might be moving on which might explain erratic nature of things in the kitchen.

It's a pity as there are still the bones of a nice country pub here but its...

There was quite a large party of us that came to eat here. I had the salmon as a main, which was quite nice. Unfortunately however, I was told the steak, which the majority of the party had, was a bit tasteless. There was, however, quite a generous amount of food per portion. The deserts were fairly nice too. The downfalls to the meal we had were drinks were hugely overpriced, and when I was served a drink with my meal, there was a dead spider on the glass. As you can expect, with a large party, it can be a bit difficult when the food comes out, who ordered what etc. What we didn't expect though was our party to be shouted at by who I presume was the manager/owner, as if we were school children, because there was a mix up with the steaks! I would however like to add that there were two lovely waitresses that served us on the night, who really did try to make sure we were provided with...

We visited The Jolly Coopers on a Sunday afternoon after bringing the dogs for a big walk up at Wrest Park. I informed them beforehand that I am gluten intolerant and I was able to have a full roast dinner with all the trimmings. The staff came out to let us know our food would be slightly longer as the chef was cleaning down everything thoroughly before preparing my dinner to avoid any cross contamination. To someone who has this condition it was like hitting the Sunday Roast jackpot as sometimes is can be a game of roulette. They brought water over for the dogs and gave us a lovely spot in the corner. We will be back.

This is the third meal I've had here and the steak meal was excellent. My partner thought the sausages could have been tastier, with little seasoning. We had the Sunday roast a couple of weeks ago and although very large portions and tasty , it was only warm and the veg was like bullets. It was early evening, so it was possibly kept under a heat lamp since cooked for lunch time. Over heard that the chef had gone home earlier as it was quiet Bit disappointed. But came back and like what I had.
