We stumbled on this pub out for a walk and thought it was a lovely place to stop with the dogs. There are nice shaded tables out in the beer garden, with a little doggy water area. All good.
First time we went, we were buying drinks at the bar and a guy who introduced himself as the manager gave us some menus to show what food they do. He did mention multiple times they weren't doing food currently, as it was past lunch. Really selling the place i was impressed with the enthusiasm and it was all good as we weren't looking for food that day anyway.
Fast foward a couple of weeks, it was my wifes birthday and on a wednesday they have a 30% off deal food all day. We went for a 2 mile walk to get there with our dogs and wanted to sit in the garden for lunch and a drink. When i asked for a menu the same manager told me that they wouldn't be serving food in the garden as they didnt have enough staff, it was fairly quiet with some diners in the restaurant. We only had the option of sitting in the carpark in direct sun, only two tables and the parasol didnt work, or the cramped bar. We tried both, but the off leash dog (owners maybe?) was causing our dogs not to settle, so i handed the menus back to the manager as said we would only have drinks in the beer garden. Tbh he didnt seem to care we were having a mare, and in my opinion he had a couldnt be arsed vibe about him even though he has seen all this happen. There wasn't one person in the beer garden, so not sure why he couldnt have offered some sort of solution.
We were both left frustrated and my wife left with no lunch on her birthday. She was looking forward to it, so it was a big letdown The experience has put us off considering eating there in the future, which is a shame as the food...
Read moreI booked the White Hart Function Room Flitton Greenfield for my 40th Birthday celebrations.. I had a very specific vision in mind regards the type of event that I required, from the food to the music, decoration and so much more… From my first point of contact with the owner Nathan, through to the execution of the event, everything was perfect and nothing was too much trouble, I mostly contacted Nathan via email with any queries that I had or changes that I needed to make, each email was answered within 30 minutes or less which I found to make organisation of the event so much easier, especially as I was making changes up until 1 day before my event. On the day of the event, Nathan met me at the venue in the morning as pre-arranged, the Marquee looked great and was ready from my suppliers to set items up and decorate… On the evening of my event, I arrived a little earlier and was given a very warm welcome by Nathan, his partner and his staff, They were all highly professional and very friendly, I instantly relaxed and knew that my 40th birthday was going to be a wonderful evening and it really was. I would go as far to say that it really was one of the best evenings of my life. I chose the winter warmer buffet and it was simply divine, the food was replenished throughout the evening and again nothing was too much trouble… Everyone of my guests complimented the venue and food, they were so impressed 😊 I honestly could not have asked for anymore, Nathan and his staff exceeded all my expectations and produced an amazing 40th birthday, I would certainly book an event at the White Hart again. Thank you so so much. Warm Wishes Victoria – a very...
Read morePopped in halfway on a local walk for a snack and drink. Strangely for a pub, there were no snacks/sandwiches/jacket potatoes on offer. It was suggested that we maybe go for one of the 'nibbles', or the open chicken sandwich at £11. Well glancing at what was on offer, the majority would appear to be from the freezer to the frier kind of fare. Well, perhaps some soup or pate, that would be great! A glance back at the menu and no, no soup or pate. I noted that the main menu is headed as the Brasserie Menu. I only saw two items out of the eleven, that you might call, in the French style. There was nothing on the menu to denote that anything such as the deserts, nibbles or even the chips were homemade. And for my money, charging £14 for frozen scampi, frozen chips and frozen peas, just ain't value for money. What a shame that this lovely pub seems to be missing out on a lot of potential custom, by the limiting factor of the menu. With it now being school holidays, I would have expected the pub to be buzzing with customers. It was pretty quiet, there weren't even any customers in the large garden. I hope my comments will be seen as constructive and not as a complaint. There is real...
