After a recommendation as a great family pub, we decided to try the Kingstown Hotel in Hedon and just on our first visit, we would highly recommend it. A Green King Hungry Horse pub with hotel and child’s soft play area (£4 a child), this is the definition of a family friendly pub. Everything is set up for a family and friends gathering with large booths, spacious areas and even TVs built into the walls of the booth showing children’s TV. The standout has to be the food however, as they are massive and very good value. I ordered the Burger Sizzler Combo, my wife the Full Monty Mixed Grill and my son decided on the chicken strip kids meal. All were well presented, tasted and, in may case, huge. When the Burger Sizzler Combo arrived I thought it was two meals, it was that big. The deserts were also very good but we all regretted having them later on as we were far too full. If you are looking for a family friendly place to visit, I would highly recommend the Kingstown Hotel in Hedon. While it could do with some Air Conditioning and if you are looking for a quiet place for a drink, it might not be the place for you, for families looking for a nice place with great food that isn’t going to break the bank, then this is the place for you.

Where do I start? I booked for one night on 2nd June 2022. I was a beautiful day, bright and clear skies. I had my 79 year old mother with me who has walking problems but they only had a few rooms left. We were put in room 19. On order to get to the room you have to go through 6 fire doors. My mother almost passed out getting to the room. On entering the room it was pitch black. I thought the curtains were closed but they were wide open. Outside the window is a huge hedge that blocked all daylight. After turning on all the lights and lamps the room was still a bit dim. For a minute I assumed that Dracula liked to stay here. We asked to be moved but they were full. We had lots of luggage was we are moving home and I had to make 3 trips to get it to the room through the 6 doors, excluding the room door. Let's just say that I will never be be back! Update:. Thanks for the feedback but just to let you know that we checked in at 2:30pm, check-in starts at 2pm. We walked in the room and came out immediately to ask if you had another room. We saw lots of people checking in after us throught the afternoon.

Not been in here for a couple of years and thought we'd try it again with having a gluten free menu (daughter coeliac). Not much changed..still get orders wrong and not very busy at all! Ordered food for 2 adults and 2 children. 3 meals arrived with 4 drinks so asked where the other children's meal was..not ordered at till apparently! Did have to pay for extra meal and wait which is not very good when you have a 6 year old and a 3 year old wanting their tea. Personally think your staff should be taught to relay order back to customer before taking payment and another idea would be to actually give the customer a receipt so they can check themselves..self same reasons we've not been in for two plus years. Re-tried and sad to say we won't be returning ..just also need to add that we only got handed this receipt from the kitchen when we queried where the other child's meal was after waiting for it..

What a mess! On entering the main foyer the building smelt like a care home, physically no updates have been done to this building in a great many years, dropped our stuff and left. On returning we thought we’d grab some food before retiring. Greeted well by the only redeeming feature of this place, it was a young man acting front of house who was polite and courteous who told us half the menu wasn’t available but still made us feel welcome enough to stay. Once we’d ordered food we were then graced with the presence of a young girl from the kitchen to inform us some more of the food wasn’t available so we scratched together some bits to try make a full meal. Decided to use the loo before sitting down for a meal, this was the next biggest mistake, the ladies bathroom was flooded and smelt soooo bad. They weren’t out of service as they were ‘apparently’ fit for use because there was a yellow sign telling me the floor was wet. . . . I decided to wait to go back to the room. When dinner came out the food wasn’t great but was edible. By this time we were shattered so we decided to retire to our room. On first walking in the room seemed spacious with a nice big superking size bed. The facilities in the room were adequate but could quite clearly see they needed updating bit of trim hanging off paint work missing etc. once we actually got into bed that was a whole different matter. What looked like a nice big welcoming bed turned into a torture device, I was playing twister trying to avoid the springs and hard lumps while my poor partner, as a front row rugby player laid on the bed frame overnight as his side of the mattress bottomed out completely. Informed the older lady front of house in the morning, at which she some how found it funny enough to walk away chuckling to herself. Ordered a breakfast and was completely disgusted on what turned up on a plate. You could literally peel the skin off the sausages they were so undercooked the eggs were tough as old boots the tomato looked like it had been threatened with a grill 6 months ago. All in all we decided to cut our losses and leave. We will not be returning for any reason. What a god awful hell hole. If this helps just one person decide to stay somewhere different then my job here is done. Greene king I...

This is a review of the hotel rather than the restaurant. Firstly, it’s fair to mention that the rooms are very reasonably priced, and in that context the negatives here are minor and acceptable. I am only mentioning them in case they are dealbreakers for some readers, which they may well be for us were we to return to the area. Positives: good sized rooms (we had a double overlooking the car park), fairly comfy bed, ample storage and hanging space for a few nights’ stay, and a hairdryer and even an ironing board. Windows were openable, and there were nets for privacy in daytime and heavy curtains to keep out the the morning light and the sun’s heat during the day. There was a fan too so they have obviously responded as best they could to feedback on the latter, and certainly it was fine for us on a hot few days. Breakfast options were great, although I recommend giving the croissants a miss! Cooked breakfasts were delicious. Staff happy to help. Negatives Bathroom - extractor did not work. Ours was switched off at the ceiling, my sister’s was on but didn’t function, and my mother’s worked but was so horribly loud that my sister could hear it next door and Mum didn’t risk using the light in the night for fear of disturbing people! In-bath shower - NO grab rails anywhere! There is the offer of a non-slip mat, but honestly it was very precarious even trying to get in it let alone showering without something to hold onto. Our own shower at home is also in- bath, but we have a single chest-height grab rail in the wall and it’s all that’s needed. I hope at their next phase of refurbishment the hotel will consider grab rails at the least, or better still, replace at least half of the baths with showers! There is a distant loud and regular industrial sounder of some kind which you will hear if you wake in the early hours, especially if you have your windows open. It is likely you will sleep through it, especially if you are at the back.

I hope this review is helpful. I would have liked to see one like it before booking, to...

We came here yesterday for the sister in laws birthday. The guy who greeted us was very pleasant and really helpful when showing us too our table. We then asked about the wacky warehouse play area for my 21 month old daughter. We were told it was £4.50. We went too the play area too pay and supervise my little girl but we're told we could only enter if there was a table avaliable and if we came out too eat and wanted too go back in after we could only do this if there was a table avaliable even though we told them we didn't want too sit down we wanted too stand up and watch her but we're told we couldn't do this. We paid the £4.50 and in she went. There was a tiny toddler area and a bigger part for over 5s. All that was in the toddler area was a ball pit, 2 very small soft slide/steps 2 soft play rocking horse type animals and some animal faces that slotted into spaces on a wall. There were children much older than 5 in there that were taking all the soft play area bits and piling them and also being really rough with no members of staff coming too sort the situation out or even monitoring who was in what area, so essentially we paid £4.50 for my daughter too play in a ball pool. This was the same price for every child so any child over 5 who could access the whole area paid the same price as we did for a ball pit. Aside from this, the place in particular the play area was absolutely disgustingly filthy. The balls were black with dirt, I dread too think of the filt my daughter was playing in under the balls, but she had seen the play area and was getting upset and wanting too go in. If I'd have known how disgusting it was I would have just dealt with a tantrum and not let her go in at all. The food arrived and i guess you get what you pay for. It was very sub standard food, that looked anemic and there wasn't one clean plate on the table. J don't think I have ever been too a place quite like it and not in a posive way. We will never return too this place and would advise everyone too AVOID,...
