Had the FARMERS BREAKFAST just after 1100hrs. Poor quality cooked food that seemed as though it had been waiting for my arrival and kept warm under heat lamps for a long time. The bacon was hard and dried. The eggs were solid and dry, 2 sausage not special and best to have just the one but better quality such as cumberland sausage. Bread was buttered and already on the plate. A breakfast toast expects to be in a rack and availalble with marmalade and plain, so to allow non-butter eaters to have their preference. A simple meal like a cooked breakfast takes only 5 minutes from uncooked. Bacon, tomatoes and black pudding in the frying pan. Eggs meanwhile cooking in boiling water. 5-10 minutes later tipped onto a plate and the already cooked and still hot beans and mushrooms added. Then the eggs. Lastly the toast added to the tray and delivered to the customer. The choice of black teas not good - only a weak flavoured darjeeling not strong enough for a breakfast tea. No English Breakfast tea on offer - or Earl Gray or Lady Gray or Ceylon tea. So a poor attempt at a bog standard meal that anyone with basic cooking skills can turn out very well - but not the several persons observed working in the kitchen who looked too young and no experience. Tea came without milk and had to ask for it along with HP sauce. The ginger/saffron cake was far too dry and nothing special. Service ok from an army of young, keen but seemingly...

Recently I popped in to grab a couple of things for dinner- I arrived a little more than 20 minutes before closing, which seems reasonable for a quick in-and-out shop. That said, if I hadn’t been local, I might have assumed the place was shut as the door was closed and the lights were off. When I went in and enquired if they were open, I was met with a very curt “yes” from an older blonde saleswoman.

As I started shopping, she made no effort to turn the lights back on, so I was left rummaging around for jams in the dark. Only after a few other customers trickled in did she finally switch them on.

When I went over to the meat and pastries fridge, the plastic covering was still draped across everything. She made no effort to remove it until I asked her to- I’m not sure if she expected me to have some sort of psychic powers that would allow me to see under it.

Anyway, I finished up and headed out- still a good 10 minutes before closing- and who do I see speed-walking behind me to the car park? I think you can guess. I understand she was eager to clock off early, but the whole experience left a rather sour impression.

And honestly, whilst I’m at it- the produce / items sold here are grossly overpriced. You can find the same things elsewhere...

We went for lunch and the place was packed the whole time we were there, there was a queue out the door. The host was lovely and got us sat as quickly as possible, we got served very quickly and our food arrived very quickly considering how busy it was.

The food was delicious, we loved everything we ordered. All the staff were lovely apart from one blonde woman who took the order, I asked for water she told me where it was and left.

I collected water for the table, but there was no glasses, I left it a couple of minutes and looked around to see if I could see anymore glasses, a member of staff saw I was looking around and came over to me to ask if I was ok.

I told him I was looking for some glasses, the blonde lady overheard, looked at me and shouted , the glasses are in the wash I cannot get them out any quicker! I could not believe the way she had spoken to me, she was aggressive and rude.

It shocked me how rude she was and it upset me a lot, we didn’t dare ask for anything else, we even shared our napkins because we didn’t want to interact with her and say we were short.

I understand staff members are stressed with it being so busy, but it’s no excuse to speak to customers like that for asking 1 time for...

Hi guys We seen the notice about the award it had one so thought let's give it a try ...ordered to full English plus 2 decaf teas .....the waitress and manager were extremely pleasant...the tea arrived (no hot water jug ) ...the breakfast arrived 2 bacon 1 sausage beans half a tomato few mushrooms and 2 peggs and a slice of black pudding and toast 1 slice ..firstly the peggs were cold inside obviously pre cooked then chilled ....thr bacon quite fatty not very tasty the sausage was lovely beans, mushrooms, tomato nothing you eouldnt get in a transport cafe ..black pudding was OK...the toast was just a normal slice of standard bread personally I would have done the thick bloomer slice and an oyster mushroom and a beef tom maybe ....tea for 2 wasn't worth £7 ...lastly the chef nipped out didn't look that clean towel over his shoulder ..must of been to the toilet or cig break came back in and started cooking did not wash his hands ...what a shame was so looking forward to it ..the shop is well over priced bog standard farm shop stuff ..won't be back again

Cute place to stop at. Two horses, a pig, and two goats can be seen from the parking lot and road. Walked over to the shop, which it is always nice to stop at a farm shop and check out the local delicacies. Baked goods and produce along with meats, pies, and much more. I loved the refill station for the different balsamic vinegar. I wanted to take some home so bad. We ended up order a scone with jam and clotted cream. The hand reared beef burger with truffle parmesean fries. The scone had raisins instead of golden ones. Very thick bottom. It was alright. The mince on the hand reared beef was very very fine. It was almost the texture you'd find in a sausage or kebab meat. It had a lot going on with the burger sauce, onion jam, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. The truffle fries lacked the truffle oil, for an extra £1.

Having been hyped in the Times last Saturday it was a let down to visit here. Not busy when we arrived but the table we sat at was in need of a good clean, as was the cushion which was covered in crumbs - you know the feeling when everything sticks to a surface. Ordered coffee & cakes but the couple who ordered breakfast having arrived after us were served before we got our cake. Surely cutting a couple of slices of cakes has to be quicker than plating up a breakfast? Cakes were good. Shop rather pricey but didn't have any gluten free produce or the Blackstick Blue cheese that was on offer - waiting for orders to come in. We won't be back; sorry. Hype better than the experience.
