YUM! Insert satisfied emoji face here!

We travelled from Northampton to visit family. We needed an easy Sunday Roast, but we also wanted a carvery with choice and a warm and cosy atmosphere.

We found more than we were looking for here!! Must Book in advance!

It was HEAVING on arrival…. this was merely signs of a popular pub, and we were instantly greeted by the waitress whom was acknowledging everyone and everything, and making everything feel organised and equally relaxed. There was no rush, we had a chance to order drinks from the bar (we were offered to raise a tab or pay up front) and the Ale, Guiness and Rose wine were all fresh and crisp.

The meat!….the softness, texture, juiciness and flavour was simply beautiful. My old man is a master butcher and this was a pleasure to see decent meat cooked properly!! The choice of vegetables was plentiful and spot on with plenty of green, orange and yellows!

The Potatos were light, crisp and fluffy, the large Yorkshire melted in the mouth… Nothing was over salted or over seasoned and nothing was oily, fatty or greasy in anyway.

I definitely made the most of my standard plate and some how managed to ‘double layer’ but this was definitely the first EVER carvery I actually managed to entirely demolish it all, and I’m only tiny!

I’m so happy I had a chance to experience one of the best carvery’s… and despite the distance we plan to come back again and I can’t wait already!!!

Oh and one last note… ‘The’ Bakewell Tart!!! Make some room, you...

First time here, but wont be last. A warning though for diners who enter here. DO NOT eat breakfast before hand or you might struggle. The ladies who sat us at the table and took orders and brought the mountain of food were very polite and friendly. It was like being served by your mum. There were three of us. A 92 yr old friend who had the small portion of scampi that I did not expect him to finish. He cleared the plate. My wife who had the rib eye steak with all the trimmings. She needed scaffolding to hold it all on the plate, and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. And finally me who had the chicken burger with bacon, and cheese bar b q sauce and a bucket of fries. I Speak literally. They came in a small China bucket. My wife said don't be ignorant it was a pail. Well whatever it was I dived in and devoured the lot. All this washed down with Thatchers cider. Absolutely wonderful. I recommend highly, but remember the above warning and have plenty of spare holes in your belt. There was even quiz cards on the tables so that the loser could pay. 🤪😄😄. One day I will try a...

We were desperate to find a place to have dinner and many places in the area were closing the kitchen. I called ahead to check if they were still serving dinner and they too said they were closing the kitchen in 5 minutes. The kind lady on the phone spoke to her manager and said if you can get here in 5 minutes we will keep the kitchen open for you. We were more than happy that they offered to seat us. We zoomed right over and they were more than gracious to serve us delicious food with warm hospitality and personality. All of our servers will great. Service with a smile throughout the evening and no feeling of rush to get us out. The food was absolutely delicious (whoever said British food is not good has never eaten here before). I highly recommend this restaurant, not only for their food but for their kind welcoming service. They definitely turned our night of desperation into a wonderful evening filled with great food and fond memories. Cheers to the entire staff for making...

We visited The Landford Poacher to celebrate my son's birthday, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. He chose the Poacher’s Mixed Grill, and it did not disappoint—each piece of meat was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and beautifully presented. The staff went above and beyond to make the occasion special, decorating our table with balloons and even adding a candle to his pudding, which was such a thoughtful touch. And I have to say, their ‘Probably the Best’ Bakewell Tart isn’t just a claim—it really is the best we’ve ever had! A warm atmosphere, incredible food, and outstanding service—The Landford Poacher truly made our celebration memorable. We’ll definitely be back!

We had had a long day visiting Winchester and on our way back to the holiday home we were staying decided to call in without booking. Although the place was very busy and our dog was only allowed in the bar area the staff managed to find us a table. We sat with a beer chatting to locals until our food arrived. At that moment we knew we had made the right decision calling in. The food was excellent!! My wife’s scampi was crispy. My chicken fillet burger with very crispy bacon and hash brown was awesome and the fried crispy onions was the best I’d ever tasted. Blown away. Just wish we had found this place at the start of our holiday.
