Really lovely building but we have received consistently awful food and not great service over a period of two days. We have been staying nearby due to a family member being in the nearby hospital. I'm a manager of a really busy pub in a very popular area of London so I'm fully aware of how a pub should be running. Some constructive criticism, there needs to be more staff working especially when there is a brand new member of staff working alongside two other members of staff on a reasonably busy Monday afternoon/ evening, due to the current circumstances there should be one person allocated to working on the door at all times to make sure people are doing track and trace and also sanitising, one new member of staff should not be left on the bar alone with no visible help around her as this is completely unfair. Our food arrived incredibly slowly and at different times, we waited 30 minutes for bread and butter. . The Tuesday was pretty similar however the food was dreadful, items were missing, food arrived at the table pretty much the majority were served incorrectly, I ordered a blue steak which arrived looking dry and cooked completely well done along with a number of other issues. This is not a fault of the staff members who are just working on the floor as they should be trained better and shown EXACTLY what to do before being put on a busy shift with no guidance or support. Staff did not acknowledge people waiting at the bar who were there for a longer period of time, we were not offered any discount/ free drinks etc.. even with the three complaints I have whilst at the establishment. Really not a great experience at all, staff with no knowledge at all, a couple of staff being quite blunt and rude over both days and the kitchen staff really screwing up orders. Maybe having a manager/ supervisor in the kitchen just expediting food would be a good idea on busy days. I understand people from above (head office) may tell you to cut down on labour etc.. if this is the case you should use stronger staff members on busier days of the week and place each staff member where suited. I hope this complaint is taken into consideration as it is a beautiful pub and I'm sure with a little help and support the staff and food could...
Read moreWhen the pub started the Sizzling menu my husband and I paid a visit. The food was great, Waitress hopeless. We visited a second time Same waitress had not improved. Food fair but had to wait a while. 3rd visit Food not as good as previously, service mandioca. 4th visit – Place was busy (think you had a function) We were told it would be about half an hour. We were fine with that but after over an hour and a half still no starter, so we asked for our money back and left. Staff seemed to be running around not knowing what they were doing. Yes, it was busy but it you have a function you deploy staff and resources accordingly, that is the catering trade. 5th visit hardly any customers. Ordered chicken wings and mushrooms for starters, Macaroni cheese and Sizzling fajitas – grilled rump steak. We waited and waited after half an hour we asked about the starts and were told they are coming. At last we see what is our started being walked around by a waitress who did not know where to take it. We called out to her and we got our starters. Not worth the wait, the wings were cold, had to ask for the sauce for the mushrooms. When the hot wings arrived, I asked how long the main meal would be and was told they could bring it out now which they did. The sizzling was not sizzling, the macaroni had obviously been keeping hot and was drying out and the beard was black. We returned the sizzling and the bread. By the time new bread arrived I had eaten the macaroni as otherwise that would have been stone cold. At the last three visits there were also other customers complaining and if your team can not manage when the place is almost empty I think you need to take a close look at your team. Form our point of view we will not be making a 6th visit you have had...
Read moreNot from the area. Stumbled upon by chance. 6 of us ordered food separately and as a few of us work in the pub/restaurant trade, knew it would come out seperately as on different tickets. This wasn't the issue. We were told it would be an hour, after we had placed the order. Ok, this is fine. 40 mins passed and 2 items from my ticket (3 total items) came out, and another one of our orders. Garlic bread with cheese was burnt and lacking said cheese. 20 mins later another meal comes out. Another 10 minutes later and I chased them up to ask. Another 2 meals come out. 4 out of 6 meals so far. The final meal came out another 10 minutes later. I'm still waiting for my meal, the final item from my ticket. I chase them up, and they say they forgot but it's being cooked now. Everyone has now finished and I'm left sitting eating on my own. Chips tasted like they were sat out since the first meal came out. Burger was hot and fresh so was a bonus. A family of around 5 came in when I was chasing our meals, 15 minutes later they had their meals (they were sitting close to us) Wouldn't be returning. The restaurant (term used loosely) was NOT busy at all, not even with only drinkers. Didn't have any Halloumi for our vegetarian so she didn't order as didn't fancy anything else, menu lacked veggie options. Soup or Halloumi and pepper-y things. No Halloumi. So she wanted a coffee, no soy milk (she prefers it) asked for skimmed milk, no skimmed milk only full fat. Might not seem a big deal to most, but after not being able to eat anything for dinner, to then not be able to have a coffee, wasn't great. Shame, good location, potential for a lovely pub Staff were...
