As I first walked through the door, the first thing I noticed was a leaking radiator with a bowl underneath to catch the water. I was then presented with a que atleast 6 meters long. It took almost 20 minutes of waiting in the que to be served drinks and shown to our table that we booked in advance. Finally after being shown to our table I was greeted with another leaking radiator next to my table!! This one had an even bigger bowl under it, and actually had black mold growing down where the water was running down!! After reading the menu I was forced to join the dreaded que again, fortunately it only took a further 10 minutes of waiting to order my meal! I ordered what I was lead to belive the "ultimate burger" When it finally arrived I was presented with what I can only describe as a very basic burger, the sort you would expect to eat out of a paper bag on the side of a layby. After biting in to the burger I immediately found it to be burnt. I cannot understand how any so called chef would think it acceptable to serve this to a paying customer. I immediately alerted a member of staff to the situation and asked for a refund. They offered to replace the burnt burger pattie and the burnt piece of bacon and re build the burger, thankfully they gave me a full refund after I refused their half hearted effort to rectify the issue. Therefore I must conclude that I strongly recommend people avoid this establishment at all costs. You would probably get a better experience dining out at mcdonald's. I am seriously considering contacting environmental health with regards to their blatant un-hygienic, moldy radiator infested restaurant, I hate to imagine what lurkes in the kitchen if they are happy to display the moldy monstrosity for all to see in the dining room.
If any one is wondering why I stayed as long as I did considering what I was presented with, I was attending a birthday meal and felt obliged to stay to celebrate...
Read moreCame in with 3 young children for a carvery 2 of whom really were looking forward to turkey. Upon arrival at the counter, there was no turkey, a slither of beef ,some dry looking gammon & no pie left. We asked if there was any turkey & told there would be no more today as theyd done 400 dinners already. The chef suggested we go to the bar for help re this which we did. The barmaid was apologetic & said shed just been informed also there was no more meat. The reason this pub gets 2 star rating from me is that this barmaid kindly offered to make chicken breast for the children which she did do & said the kids could then help themselves to the rest of the carvery. When the meat arrived the children went to the counter for potatoes/veg & what do we see ??? Turkey fresh out of the kitchen. Challenging the chef abt this,he blatantly lied saying " i told you itd be ready in 20 mins". I was fuming at this & told him so. Why lie ???? Wed have waited 20 mins if thats what the kids wanted !!!! We asked later to speak to the manager, he said it was a mis communication on our part! He was very rude to us and did not accept any wrong doing. Apparently between asking for turkey & going back for potatoes and veg 15 mins later a turkey had been found and cooked !! Another customer then commented that a turkey had arrived having also been told there was no more meats available. We then had to ask twice for the kids free ice creams which were part of the child carvery deal. Very disappointed as this used to be a welcoming and friendly place. Sadly...
Read moreFour of us went for a meal for my birthday, all four of us had a large carvery. The three stars given are only for the carvery, as the desserts were a complete let down, we ordered a banoffee sundae, two of the chocolate sundaes and a strawberry cheesecake sundae, one of the chocolate sundaes was sent back twice , once to remove cream even though it was ordered without it and again to add the extra icecream it was ordered with and paid for. The cream on all of them was grainy, over whipped and just disgusting. I had to send my strawberry cheesecake sundae back because the cream was frozen, both myself and my boyfriend are experiencing upset stomachs within 15 minutes of leaving. I hate to mention people but the waitress was quite unprofessional, three of us come from a catering background and one of the first things your taught as a waitress is to never learn over a customers food when serving which she did on several occasions, and when explaining why the cream was frozen she said that the fridge and freezer were too close which made the fridge overheat, im sorry but im only one that doesnt make sense too ? I would also advise not to allow wait staff to wear ridiculously long acrylic nails during work there are extremely unsanitary as they cant be cleaned under properly. It was a lovely...
