Four of us have visited here twice for food over the weekend. We booked a table on both occasions. The pub was welcoming with a log burner in the middle near to the dining table. We had three dogs between us and they were made welcome too. The food was excellent. We sampled the pie, the stuffed chicken breast and the sticky pork with rice. Everyone cleared their plates and reported back to the waiter that the food was amazing. We had a couple of drinks each, the total cost was just under £100.00. We were so impressed that we booked for Sunday lunch the following day. The Sunday lunch was just as nice, the leaks in cream sauce were to die for (all apart from the yorkshire puddings which were over done, burnt and crispy). Again the cost was around £100.00 in total.

The Melbourne Arms is very close to the Melbourne Canal Basin. It was a good place to stop on our walk along the pocklington canal. There is a good choice of beers, lager and cider, including three hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. The cask ale was excellent when we called in. There is no pool table or dart board. It's mainly a food orientated pub. We didn't have anything to eat but had a look at the menu, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked very nice, and there were a lot of people having meals. I will come back to try the food. The pub is dog friendly.

Me and my partner had an incredible meal here a few days ago. We went expecting pub grub, what we got was one of the best meals we've ever had! Staff were really friendly and gave great service. I have coeliacs and the gluten free options were really good and the staff knowledgeable about their food. Really impressed. We've recommended to all our friends and family. Thank you!

Worst place ever! Phoned and told a time, when I called back to ask to sit earlier. They agreed to the earlier time (passing trade)

Sat for 15 minutes and ordered drinks, the drinks were fine… On the other hand being asked 5 times if we had booked and talking about us behind our back at the bar, is disgraceful behaviour!

The pub was empty with just 3 others in the whole dining area. Approximately 36 dining seats available and we would have been eaten and away within an hour! As we had another 35 minutes to our journey home

This establishment will not be recommended at all. Dread to think what the food costs would have been (if we’d eaten and it was good, the cost wouldn’t have been a problem) However, £3.60 for half a pint of Coca Cola and £3.80 for a pint of John Smiths is shocking!

Went into Pocklington and would recommend The Bull, brilliant food and service from every...

We booked for 7.30 Arrived early and at 7.30 waitress came to take our order and explained that there was a 45 minute to 1 hour wait as there was a new chef, there were 4 tables in the restaurant including ours waiting for food. Ordered one beef starter and Fish and chips x2 35 minutes later starter arrived for two people (only ordered 1) 1 hour and 15 minutes after ordering, main course arrived which consisted of a very small portion of fish which had been over cooked it was embarrassing. This area is crying out for half decent food and you deliver rubbish. Your excuse was that the chef had twisted his ankle and the sous chef was new. Any chef who had a conscience would have sat in a chair and overseen a junior chef. I could continue to rant about how poor our experience was, but I hope you get the message and do...
