5* simply because I can’t leave 10! Dropped in here in desperation today ( Easter Saturday) after travelling around to a couple of places and not being able to get a table. Thought we were off to the Chinese in Pickering when we stopped her and asked if dogs were allowed in? Yes we were told and then did they have a table for 2? Despite being full and tables reserved they found us one, we had to wait a bit to have our order taken but they did get us drinks straight away while we waited for them to deal with the party of 8 that came in just before us. When they did take out order I went for the sirloin steak and my wife the lasagna. This was finished with apple crumble / custard and hot choc fudge cake / custard. We can honestly say it all was cooked to perfection. The steak I haven’t had so good in a long time ( even when I’ve cooked it) and the wife’s lasagna was spot on too. Puddings tasted perfect too. Lovely, small, but reasonable quite pub considering it was full. Staff were outstanding, friendly, helpful and polite apologising for our wait which considering we dropped in on the off chance was our fault not theirs. The landlord was great. Joking and making us feel at home and actually wanted. As others have said, every pub needs a landlord like this. Our only regret was it was our last night that we popped in even though over the years we’ve driven past it so many times. If you want a well cooked meal at a nice quiet county pub with good service and polite staff you don’t need to look any further. We will definitely be back here when in the area. Thank you so much to...
Read moreHere is my honest review of are evening meal .. It's a fairly basic meal really with standard basic choices we ordered...
Steak and ale pie Scampi X2 Hunters chicken Beef roast dinner Chicken with a stilton and mushroom sauce
Out of all the above meals 2 of them could have been better they was..
Hunters chicken was drowned in BBQ sauce all though that was the only fault half of the sauce it would have been good.
Beef roast dinner was very bog standard beef was dry and lacked in presentation.
Also there was 1 bowl of vegetables between 3 meals 🤔. I asked if there was more vegetables coming. Which they did and got slammed on the table by a waitress almost like it shouldn't have been asked for. Also no serving spoon for the vegetables which was a first when going for a meal out.
We did feel welcomed at the pub but if your going for a meal here. Don't expect a fantastic meal really it's just basic the prices we found a bit high. For what you got portions could have been better to.
On the whole bog standard no thrill's meal with a quirky down to earth...
Read moreWe called In to the Middleton arms after reading some reviews. We didn’t book but they were still happy to serve us and explained we would have a little wait. We also had our 2 dogs with us. They made us all feel really welcome. They brought a bowl of water out for our dogs and had a couple of treats for them. I ordered the steak pie, my wife and daughter both went for the cheese burger. The pie was probably one of the best pies I have ever had. Served with chips, veg and gravy. The chips are home cooked and again probably the best chips I have ever had. I tried some of the cheese burger and that too was excellent and served with the same chips. I highly recommend the Middleton arms and we will return next time we are...
