The Miners Arms is a wonderful pub, and well worth making the effort to find (make sure you book though if you go to eat as it is rightly very popular). The staff are all exceptionally friendly, the ales on tap are all well kept, and the food magnificent. We had the beetroot cured smoked salmon and miners stack to share as starters between four of us, and they were just enough to give us something to stop the tummies rumbling, without filling us up too much! The salmon was exceptionally tender, and not overpoweringly beetroot-y. The miners stack introduced us to hogs pudding - a delicious Cornish specialty sausage that is similar to (but contains less offal than) a white pudding. This was enjoyed by all - even those that don't usually like black or white pudding! We then went onto the Sunday roasts, and they were outstanding - lovely meat (and a decent sized portion, at that), lovely roast potatoes, nicely cooked veg (not mushy, not raw, just right), a good sized Yorkshire pudding and lots of very tasty gravy. We'd hoped to enjoy some of the fantastic sounding desserts, but alas had no room in our full bellies! It's quite the maze in there with lots of different levels and rooms, and very limited mobile phone signal, but there were a few signs with the wifi code dotted around if you are unable to survive without internet access...
Read moreWe wanted to love this place owing to the great reviews but unfortunately had a less than great experience. We sat on a table near the bar for about 10 mins as it was busy, but nobody came to see us so we moved into the main eating section… waited for another 15 mins or so on a dirty table. Server walked past and looked at us many times, didn’t say a word. Eventually we went to the bar to order to be told the table we were on was reserved and we’d need to move. No sign, nobody said anything to us. Back to the bar we went. We waited and waited, eventually someone came to the table next to us and asked if she could take their order… they said they’d already ordered and she walked straight off without even looking at us. I called her back and placed our order. 45 minutes later we got some fairly average food, chips were undercooked and quite hard and my fish pie was mainly liquid, about 4 slices of baby potato on top and some bland hard vegetables. Really sad as I was looking forward to it. Wished it could have been a nicer experience, maybe caught them on a bad day. Served that brought our food over was super friendly, I will...
Read moreEasily the best Pub Meal I've ever had! They say a picture speaks a thousand words, but with this food, you can taste it to! The staff were very welcoming, seating us on time and without delay, each table provided with a free Water with Lemon and refills - a nice touch. A group of six, we opted for 5 roast dinners and I went for the Special, which was Steak and Ale Pie with New Potatoes with Veg. The food arrived within maybe 10-15mins of ordering, piping hot and fresh - all 100% accurate as ordered! Each bite was to die for, the portions massive and the quality farm fresh - if you want to experience farm to fork food, this is it! Drinks, again arrived very promptly with no errors. We then opted for some desserts, which again are all made in house and were delicious! I'd definitely recommend booking a table and checking this fantastic gem out, now this is how a Pub should be - Amazing locally produced food, Great Service and traditionally run! Thank you so much for an amazing experience - we...
