We booked a table for 10 (8 adults and 2 children) on a Thursday evening for my mums 60th birthday. We had to pre order which is fine, the table was booked for 5:30. when we arrived a couple minutes before the booking the tables weren't ready for us, which is also fine so we pushed the tables together so we could sit together as a family. Then a couple of the group went up to the bar to order drinks and the rest sat at the table.

The staff immediately started bringing out the food, to my surprise I asked the staff not to bring out the food yet as we hadn't even had a drink yet and half the table were at the bar. He didn't listen to this and brought out the food! I asked to speak to the Manager who's response was I'm sorry we are short staffed and the table was booked for 5:30 so the food is serviced at 5:30 (I've never booked a table for a time and then eaten at that exact time!) with the food on the table and half the group still at the bar, I expressed my disappointment that we hadn't even sat down yet,let alone got a drink.

The food was very average, I had a 5 bean chilli which had been microwaved for so long it was still steaming when everyone was half way through there food. It also only had 1 type of bean in the Chilli.

The bill did not reflect our disappointment and we were still charged full amount for disappointing food and very poor service!

unfortunately we stay on a site locally and will not be eating here again. much better resturants in the...

Where to start.... From being seated it took the staff over 20 minutes to acknowledge our presence. We had already gotten so bored that we had helped ourselves to a menu from another table because none of the staff were forthcoming with one. We tried several times to attract the attention of a staff member & finally (5 minutes later) one staff member asked if we had placed our order to which we answered no. They said they would get someone else to take our order because they were not on table service. Cue another 10 minute wait & we finally placed our order. 5 minutes later & our hot drinks arrived (minus sugar & teaspoons which took a further 6 minutes). 33 minutes later & the food rocks up. Fries with the fish (no pepper chips here apparently even though the menu states chips) It was as if ALL the staff were new starters, they were running around like crazy but not really achieving anything. The place was fairly busy but with the amount of staff, they should have managed the workload with ease. There was simply no organisation whatsoever. Every time someone did attend our table they were full of apologies - sorry for this, sorry for that, sorry for everything but not sorry enough to get it right. The couple on the table beyond us were complaining & one group got up, abandoned their drinks & left. I wish I had done so as well. Nice place, average food, ...

The New Inn in Goonhavern is a superb pub that perfectly captures the charm of a traditional Cornish inn whilst offering plenty of room and comfort. Located right at the top of the stunning Saints Trail, which leads you down to Perranporth, it's an ideal stop for both locals and visitors.

As you step inside, you’re greeted by a cosy, characteristic interior that feels welcoming and relaxed thanks, in no small part, to the brilliantly friendly staff. Also lovely to find a decent pool table! An endangered species these days.

The food here is a real highlight, especially the chef’s specials. The pies are fantastic, featuring varied and exciting fillings that truly elevate the experience. Each pie boasts a flaky, golden crust encasing rich and flavourful ingredients. It’s comfort food done right.

The pub quiz is the best one locally, with a genuinely friendly atmosphere and well-organised format. It’s hosted by a lively quizmaster who keeps the evening engaging and ticking along at a decent pace.

Outside is a spacious beer garden and well-maintained playground, better than anything else you will find locally and a real sun trap.

Parking is a breeze, thanks to a large car park where you simply enter your number plate into the iPad by the bar—no complicated systems to navigate. Ignore the previous negative comments on this as they...

We wanted to try a local pub while staying down in Cornwall and the New Inn was only a few minutes away. It’s a pretty nice little place! The selection of draught beers was decent—though if I’m being picky, the lager options could have been better. We had a Sunday roast: I went for the beef, my partner had the nut roast, and the kids ordered the buttermilk chicken and chips. The roast was good, with excellent vegetables, so no complaints there. On a side note, there were a couple of flies in the vinegar, which we mentioned to the staff, but it wasn’t a big issue. One of the highlights was the children’s play area—it kept our two entertained throughout the meal.

Went for a Sunday roast with the family. Friendly staff, very knowledgeable and helpful. We ordered the roast which has two meat options. Presentation was impeccable. Flavours and textures were amazing and hands down the best roast I’ve had for a long time. Highly recommend this place and we wish we found it at the start of our holiday not the end. Thank you to chef’s Dave and Jordan for an awesome lunch and extra gravy. #Please note photo off my roast I had started it eat it as so excited and then realised I had not taken a photo.
