Decided I faniced an ice cream after a 4 hour hike, but the large group of about 8/9 walkers in front of us joined the queue for the hatch at this place just as we reached it. So I went inside. whilst waiting in line, I noticed the obnoxious attitude of who seemed to be the manager/owner and the way he spoke to the girls. A couple who had come in to grab some drinks out of the fridge were stood behind me and we're served before me as they had cash but as someone who has worked in the hospitality industry I know the employee had used initiative to let these people get on their way with only being one payment terminal available and to help get the queue down. When at the front of the counter that had a huge sign saying "ice cream served here" on it, i asked for the icecream to which the obnoxious manager said that I 'wouldn't get served any quicker for ice cream here than if I waited outside suggesting that he would not walk 3ft to his right to get it from the fridge for me and that I'd need to requeue at the outside hatch to which I said well I'm here now. Sensing the outrageous unhelpful and lazy customer service, I was on the receiving end of the lady who had been running around behind the man said she would take my order and go to the fridge for me. So if someone's child wanted ice cream but they were sitting having tea inside would he have said the same? Made them go queue at the hatch? I think not. This man does not deserve the young ladies there who were running around and showing him up on his disgraceful customer service skills. I'm grateful to the lady who got my sugar boost for me after my hike and chose to be a kinder person than her boss. Unfortunately, I have also worked for rude people like this in the past, so I feel for the employees having to take the slack for lazy employers and managers and will always appreciate the extra effort shown to be helpful. I had heart surgery a few months ago and I've been slowly building back up with my walks and the sugar was very helpful. Sadly, negative interactions like this deter me from giving my money to a place...
Read moreI recently visited a cafe in Malham, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a cosy and inviting atmosphere that immediately put us at ease. The decor was charming, with a warm colour palette and soft lighting that created a welcoming ambiance.
The staff at the cafe were incredibly polite and friendly, going out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. They were attentive and responsive to our needs, making sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our visit. What really set this cafe apart, however, was the generosity of the staff. We were visiting Malham without a vehicle and were stranded in the town without a way to get back to Skipton, which was 11 miles away. Despite our best efforts to find a ride, no one seemed willing to help us out. That is until the lady from the cafe stepped in and offered to give us a lift back to Skipton.
This act of kindness was truly exceptional, and it made all the difference in our trip. Without her help, we would have had to walk for three and a half hours to reach the train station in Skipton, which would have been a difficult and unpleasant experience. Instead, we were able to relax and enjoy the ride back, feeling grateful for the incredible kindness of the staff at the cafe.
Overall, I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a warm and welcoming environment, excellent service, and exceptional generosity. It's not often that you find a business that goes above and beyond for their customers, but this cafe truly stands out for their exceptional customer service...
Read moreQuality food but turn the heating on and warm the plates!
Went here quite late on for a breakfast (10:15) because as per usual in tourist areas in England, most places stop breakfast at 9:30!? Credit to this place for being open.
It was freezing outside and we wanted a nice warm breakfast so we were happy to order two full English and a sausage sandwich. Inside it was quite cold which was strange. Nearly everyone was sat there with their coat on which for me, takes away from the cosiness of anywhere. People should be relaxed and warm, not freezing waiting for their food.
When the food came out, it was clear the quality of produce really is there. Sausage and bacon were high quality and the rest was similar. Cooked very well too. However, after a couple of minutes, my mushrooms were already cold - they hadn't warmed any of the plates. Such a shame as because the room was very cold and the plates were freezing, everything on the plate turned cold rapidly, thus spoiling the experience significantly. Quality ingredients flat cold. Warm your plates!! it's such a basic thing when owning any eatery.
We bought some cakes as we left and a jar of jam - all of which again were superb.
This place should be a straight five stars because of the quality but because of the two basic mistakes, which can't go unnoticed, it's only a three. Nobody wants to be cold while eating and have their hot food ruined because of cold plates....
