The Orient — Restaurant in England

Pre covid this place was amazing but disappointed on last night's meal. Busy and service slow, people who came in after us getting served before us and we were left for a while. Some items which were on the menu were not being sold anymore as waitress said they were now to expensive for them to buy. Starter really nice but mains seemed poor quality and nowhere near as good as the food has been in the past. Not sure if covid shut down has had an affect but mains tasted like cheaper quality food items and didn't feel it was up to their usual high standards. Waitress did nothing but apologise and said restaurant was trying it's best, this was even though we never complained about anything so obviously the staff are also aware things aren't quite as good as they were. I have never written a post before but I feel I have to on this occasion. Always ace! This has to be my favourite restaurant in Sandbach and my favourite Chinese restaurant full stop. The service is always bang on, the food always excellent, the ambience just right and they are always welcoming. If consistency were a badge, these guys could wear it with pride. Personal favourites are the shredded crispy beef with chilli and the crispy duck with pancakes (their hoi sin sauce is delicious).
