First visit May 25. Driven past multiple times... never appealed. Mate took me in for a beer. Lovely little restauranr/pub. Saw food being served.... was enough for us to go back to eat. Limited menu, but sufficient with daily specials. Mains ordered - lasagne, wagyu burger special, ham salad and home made steak and ale PIE (with the very best gravy), all home made and simply delicious. Hot, fresh and very very tasty. Limited wine menu but enough choice. Service welcoming and friendly. Then.. the desserts.. Fruit crumble.. WOW😮.. Can't remember other choices, as crumble was THE VERY BEST. We will be going back soon. Highly recommended.

This building has been in the family for over a 100 years come see this lovely building and enjoy some delicious old fashioned food. He was telling us some lovely stories about his family and how many generations have owned it and he even said the people were out with their phones measuring the difference angles of the floor it's pretty incredible. We haven't stayed in the rooms per se but I imagine there are amazing

Well well. all these years I’ve driven past a little gem. My wife and I just had a lovely lunch.firstly a cosy warm welcome with a smile. The wine come to the table perfectly chilled. The waitress was charming and polite. Then our wonderful roasts arrrived. Piping hot. Perfect in every way.a proper Sunday roast. We dine out all the time at various restaraunts and pubs. This place put Burley manor to shame. We have had an appalling Xmas lunch there. Disgusting infact. Had to send the meals back. And leave. And all other meals there pretty basic in comparison to The owls nest. We had to try the apple crumble. It was apple crumble with that sugary crunchy topping I remember from home. The price was extremely good. So I felt compelled to buy the chef a drink. Our local from now on. Thankyou. Leroy & Kerstin Ps: can we bring our maincoon cat along. He’s on a leash and very chilled out. bigger than your...

It looks like a tea rooms from the outside which has meant it is a real hidden gem as people do not tend to stop and give it a try. I first discovered it after a Golf Society day when the meal after was at the Owls. I have become a regular visitor ever since and indeed introduced many friends to the place that like me never thought of stopping. At the bar you will find friendly locals enjoying real ale and a gossip (possibly I will be one) However you will find many more customers enjoying the Home Cooking style menu in the restaurant area. My personal favorite is the Steak and ale pie and if they have it apple crumble for Pud. In Short its a real pub just like in the old days before they invented Witherspoons and real pubs started to close. Not Kid Friendly at all, its a older persons place to come and relax. If you have Kids go to the Horns...

Richard and Jackie and their staff run a very pleasant and friendly pub. Customer service is always at the forefront of their business, if they can do it, they will! The food is homemade and fantastic, some great hearty meals or even the lightest, tasty snacks are available. There is always a wide variety of ales, many of them local, so well worth a visit if you like to sample local brews. The clientele are mostly local and very friendly and welcoming, especially if you have a dog!! Occasionally there is entertainment of various kinds, from rock bands to morris dancers and some darts on a Friday night.

All in all, I can't fault this local pub, a great pit stop or for a nice evening, you won't be...
