So we went here to celebrate a 20th birthday. They kindly took the cake as we entered the establishment to bring out with candles at the end of the meal. First time since the refurbishment, on first impressions is looks very nice. As we began to order, we were told 4 out of the 7 meals we requested weren’t available. Would have been nice if they inferred what meal items they did not have before waiting for us to go through the menu and order. When I asked if they serve peroni the waiter said yes but bought me thatchers - I didn’t say anything as I thought it must have been a mistake but it happened again. We ordered Pre starters ‘a selection of breads with olive oil and balsamic glaze’ it was one herby kind of bread cut into 4 pieces and a bowl of olive oil with balsamic at the bottom. The £14 vegan burger was very small, dry and lacked flavour as did the fries. When they brought my £22 steak out it was cooked blue-rare when I had asked for medium rare. Very poor cut of meat very very gristly and I only managed half despite being very hungry. We weren’t offered any condiments with the meal. The ‘cod’ and chips looked more like monkfish aka poor man’s cod. The ‘closed cup mushroom stuffed with cheese’ was a very small mushroom which would have left a small dog famished. No kids menu. They put ice in the cola without asking. Not sure the wait staff have been trained whatsoever. Their manner was mediocre. They brought the cake out and sang happy birthday which was the nicest part of the evening. As a customer who enjoys tipping very generously when I go to restaurants/pubs that serve decent food and good service, it’s unfortunate that I’ve had to write this. This is the first time in 2 years that I haven’t tipped at all. I hope they can improve on the points made here but it certainly seemed the kitchen were under staffed and front of...
Read moreWent here to have a drink with mummy and Nanny and to see what they have done with the place with the big makeover. We talk about the story of what now is the Pewsham. This pub first started out with the name called (The Swan). Then was taken over with new owner's nameing it called (The Lysley Arms) Then during the pandemic of coronavirus it closed its doors for a massive major refurb from outside to inside and now has returned with a brand new name and ownership called (The Pewsham). I have investigated what they have done with the place. Now the staff are very very friendly they are Autistic friendly as I have Autism but this place itself is not Autistic friendly it's what us Autistic people do not like is decorated with white bright colour. it's more like a cafe not a pub the big massive doors next to the disabled toilet has a big sheet of glass that looks so thin. you could accidentally put your fist through it could smash and fall on somebody's head that is a dangerous. The sheet of glass should be removed and replaced with bricks for the Public Protection. The toilets are very very clean and our immaculate. They play too much loud music you cannot have a conversation with your family or Friends because the music is to loud. It's not a pub anymore it's more of cafe with no Atmosphere. You cannot just walk into the Pewsham and sit down and have a meal you either have to book a table and reserve or you get sent away by a member of staff because there is not enough tables in this pub. Infortunately people walk out angry because they cant sit down and eat and drink. Because each table has reserve on it. The Pewsham could have a better menu. I don't know which direction (The Pewsham) is going in. But I cannot see it lasting long in the future
I will update this review if I see improvement in the near future for (The...
Read moreSo here goes,,,,,, I absolutely have no issues with what others have written here, it is their experience and at the time i guess they were making just comments. Our first impression of the Pewsham was great. Loved the decor and the atmosphere and the staff were friendly. We only had a drink the first time, but on our second visit we decided to try the Sunday Lunch, but they were so busy, our lunch was taking an age to arrive. We decided we couldn't wait any longer and told the owner to cancel the order. We made our way to the Car Park and was quickly hailed by the owner, Chris who was making his way toward us with who we now know is his sister. To say they were both apologetic would be an understatement. Of course they would be,,,,, Right? But they were so sincere and embarrassed as our Sunday lunch, or lack of, had been ruined and they offered us a free meal whenever we wanted. Now,,, i don't know about you, but I've been to some restaurants in my time as have my friends and family and had a bad meal, and when the staff were informed, the best most would do is offer a free beer or a pudding. Not with Chris and his sister. They went the whole hog and offered us a free meal. So, last Sunday, we went to try the Sunday lunch. We both had the Lamb and it was great. The girl serving us was amazing, polite, attentive and always smiling. We both loved it and told the staff the same. I guess what my point is here is that this is a new pub, lots of new and young staff and they may have got it wrong a few times and they know it and admit it themselves, but we all start somewhere and they have only been trading a few weeks. My view, great pub, great food and great service. Thank you...
