We had a celebration of life at the Red house for 65 people. The whole place was offered to us for our private party, the room used was the perfect size. We also had use of the bar area and additional seating, this was great for people to break off into different areas to chat. We were charged per person for the food but the room/venue was offered for free which I thought was a great deal. The buffet was a reasonably priced, presented well, tasty food and there were good options available. Tea, coffee and water was available for everyone and the bar was open and staffed for drinks. The Staff were helpful and friendly. The car park was big enough to accommodate everyone and the seating area outside was nice for people to sit and chat. There are some steep stairs leading up to the outside area and car park, I’m not sure about accessibility. I think there may be a way in round the front but I didn’t ask or check. We were pleased with the Red house and would recommend it for special occasions. Thankyou for helping us provide a great wake for...
Read moreMade a reservation for a 30th birthday. Turned up and they’d given our table away. (Did give one free drink to the guest of honour to apologise) Left lingering like lemons for a good ten minutes while they flustered and dragged all the leftover tables together to make ours. Had to go back and ask for another table as they’d left us one short. Had to chase them for 2 sets of cutlery. The bar was rammed and out of ice/glass/patience it would seem. The man serving the carvery was incredibly rude to our guest of honour -yes you’re hot but it’s not a blast this side in the madness either hun. The food was terrible. Flavourless, rock hard Yorkshire’s and floppy veg. The mustard parsnips were good but that wasn’t enough to save it. The bar staff were clearly working their socks off but it wasn’t enough with the rest of the disappointment. We left without having dessert. Very disappointed and will be heading to Penn Mill next time. Credit where credits due- the girls on the bar we’re handling it...
Read moreWhere do i start…Went in on a sunday afternoon to find it empty. We thought maybe closed! But alas, a Couple blokes at the bar. Thai food being served from a catering van outside. I asked if customers were able to eat the food in the pub. I was met with sarcastic and rudeness from a bloke i can only i presume was staff. Sniggering and said ‘If people want food they order from me i run a pub and restaurant’ mocking us…whilst we have this conversation in an empty pub…youd imagine they need the trade…clearly no business sense there. We proceeded to finish our drinks and get gone… Zero customer service and Atmosphere of a morgue. Made to feel like we had walked into somebodys front room - perhaps an empty pub on a sunday afternoon should have rung alarm bells from the get-go. Such a shame! Ended up having to eat the thai...
