I booked the Redan for 1 night 31st May for my wife’s birthday after a trip into Bristol. The parking at the hotel was easy in the car park. When we arrived in the room it looked nice however we soon noticed it was dusty and cobwebs everywhere all along the walls at top where it meets the ceiling. There was a bottle of water in the room that looked dirty inside and like it had been sitting there a month or two with stuff growing in it. If I had tried to drink this in the night I wouldn’t have noticed. I took this down to reception and they replaced it but there was no apologies. My wife took a shower and the water was coming out of the seal on the door because it was worn and old. We notified the hotel staff and asked for more towels to mop the water up but they didn’t repair it. At breakfast there was only one staff member that was struggling to keep up with the orders and it took longer than expected to get served. We ordered cereal to start with and a cooked breakfast, she said they didn’t have cereal that I asked for but did have granola so I went with that. She didn’t ask if any of us have any allergies. She can back 10 mins later to say they didn’t have any granola either so I asked for extra toast. Surely they know how many guests they have stopping each night so there are no excuses for running out especially when there is a supermarket nearby. When the breakfast arrived I asked for ketchup and butter and she disappeared for 5 mins and I had to get up and look for her because I expect to have this before eating. I didn’t have any extra toast but the toast they gave me was rock hard and didn’t taste like toast. While we were in breakfast we noticed the whole place was covered in dust and cobwebs which you can see from my images. During check out the staff member asked if we were happy with our stay and we told her no and I explained the reasons. She said she’ll get the manager to call us when he arrives but we didn’t receive a call. This place could be so much better. If I was the manager I’d be making sure the place was spotless to start with, it’s weeks of dust that has built up not just a few days which you can see in the whole place. Not sure what happened with the water but this could have made us poorly and is a health concern. The best part was the beer garden.

Wow a really special menu and a very reasonable price. On the set menu was meals I would rarely get a chance to eat. When they came out they were not only cooked to perfection but oozing with flavour and intrigue. This is a pub that really cares about there customers culinary taste and the service was equally a delight. Attentive waiter's in a well thought out pub minimising covid transmittance. For the low occupancy the atmosphere felt surprisingly good. My family and I loved it. I was surprised the pub wasn't completely full even at the early lunch slot.

We have used The Redan Inn now for both our wedding reception and our first baby shower and cannot fault them at all. Not only did they provide us with a tailor made affordable experience but made sure that everything was accounted for and taken care of. Our most recent event at the Redan was our baby shower and the food was absolutely top notch. I would recommend them time and time again and will most likely book again for our babies christening party. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication to creating such a memorable event for us!

So then, I stayed at this place for a couple of nights over a Friday and Saturday and whilst in decor terms the rooms are lovely, what isn't so great is the noise from the bar below, especially when it goes on until 2am in the morning resulting in 3hrs broken sleep!

I had to call the emergency mobile contact number to ask the noise be reduced, it did drop fairly quickly but shouldn't have been going on until 2am to begin with when people were paying £90+ per room/night, complete disrespect by the landlord for those trying to sleep above. The following night there was more noise again, this time going on until after midnight when a further call had to be made. He claimed the first night's noise was due to a colleagues "wake" after having recently passed away and whilst there is some sympathy for this it doesn't mean it's fine to keep your paying occupants awake until 2am!

I took this up with the landlord, a rather meek and mild sounding character however as the client I was working for had paid for the room it made things difficult for me to try and claim something back directly, despite me being the one who had suffered! Speaking with a member of staff, who shall remain nameless, after disclosure of this information they told me that these "late night after hours parties" often take place.

My client has emailed and tried to contact the landlord directly but claims he's received no communication, a "divide and conquer" concept to try and clearly avoid any form of settlement, either that or he's not receiving his emails?

He'll probably reply to this and quote that I'm out of hand or swore at him on the phone however there clearly isn't much of a direct way to get through to him as he clearly didn't want to compensate me directly either.

So, in short, stay here if you want a nice room but don't expect an early night, neither any form of compensation or compassion from the landlord if you're not happy or there's a problem.

I've reviewed hundreds of places on Google and generally everything gets four or five stars, sadly on this occasion the establishment let me down and I'm sure...
