We booked here for a very special family celebration with massive regrets the place was empty on arrival which should have been a tell tell sign in itself The bar staff and chef was more interested in chatting amongst themselves behind the bar and getting themselves drinks rather than attending to us we eventually got served some 5 mins later with very limited drinks options this didn’t take long the food was advertised as fresh and homemade but it most certainly was not it is just massively overpriced frozen microwave food and the cheesecake deserts was also frozen and custard all curdled and cold you would get far better food and service at Wetherspoons but paying Wetherspoon prices. I complained to the staff behind bar but they did not seem bothered at all just said they would get James to call me but he never did so I had to phone back again several times and leave messages and eventually he phoned me back almost 2 weeks later and his bad attitude and response was shocking this place has gone severely downhill and certainly won’t last with these two guys on board! Go elsewhere save your money and heartache. If I could give these a zero star I would as 1 star is one too...
Read moreWe have eaten at the Wagon weekly for the last 6 months, and spend most Sunday Evenings there playing Bingo. Dan, James and every single staff member are attentive, kind, thoughtful and helpful. James’ food is the exact kind of food you want to eat in a local village pub - freshly made and delicious. James’ salad is my favourite thing to eat, closely followed by the Orange sponge! We honestly couldn’t ask for a better local pub, Dan and James have made it into a real community pub where it’s a joy to spend time. Its dog and child friendly, and really well set out so you can have a quiet meal or a chat with the locals. It’s always busy, but all the staff take time to talk to you, and remember what drinks you like and even remember my food order! I would encourage everyone to try it out, especially at the moment where you can enjoy the beautiful Christmas decorations. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Keep doing exactly what you are doing Dan and James, because Chilcompton is a better village with The Somerset...
Read moreDo not waste your money here. Ordered the lasagna...well what a disgusting mess that was. Mince meat wasn't mince meat...watery like soup, felt I should have been offered a spoon. No cheese or any flavouring to it at all. I added loads of salt after the 1st bite to help it out...trust I couldn't even get halfway through eating it, it was beyond gross. Got asked if everything was ok just as I was taking my 1st bite....wish they would wait until at least the 2nd or 3rd bite so I could complain. For what they charged to what was given to me was disgraceful and they should be embarrassed. Hopefully the so called chef takes this meal off the menu as they clearly cant cook even a half decent lasagna. Stay away from ordering food here. I also noticed the landlady never said a single word to the young girlie working there...that was also a red flag....who doesnt even make polite conversations with their staff. Overall, I wouldn't even give this...
