Group of walkers 2 days into Hadrians Wall walk.(60 miles in approx)

Upon arrival starving and ready for little rest, couldn't believe our look finding this place. However left disappointed, missed out on breakfast so had to have lunch. Few of the group had jacket potatoes, unknowingly they received them after long wait only to find cold crisps all in them, in amongst the coleslaw and beans etc. Given them a disappointing texture. Next one of the groups ask for cheese and beans which came without cheese. As we were carrying on with the walk from here when ordering we asked for sandwiches to take away but to add more disappointment they came in boxes not wrapped and therefore difficult to put in our already full rucksacks!

This is the second time we have visited this Kitchen since Covid and we were again not disappointed. It was busy and found ourselves sharing a table with a couple we knew but hadn't seen for several years and that was an added bonus for our visit. Service was quick and our order taken by the very friendly proprietor. My daughter ordered a delicious and genorous pie, I had the cheese scone and coffee. All delicious. Apparently there had been two rushes of visitors that morning but by just after 12 noon there was a lull - perhaps a good time to visit. It's a distance from us so we don't go very often, but Riverside Kitchen Chollerford is still serving excellent food, after a long period of lock-down. We had baked potato (for two) and sandwiches (for the other two), all ordered the day before because of the constraints of covid-19 lock-down. Sandwiches were on excellent fresh chewy bread and the contents tasty without being salty - also large and with salad and crisps. Potatoes looked good too. Cake / cheesecake always a treat, and the coffee is particularly good. Tables outside, one way system inside but not too obtrusive, masks optional, toilet available.
